Didn't delve into any of the reviews but my suspicion is this film is made for the fans. It's better to gauge on the fan reviews after this weekend.

I agree. The critics will judge it like they expect it to be a Disney/Pixar masterpiece.

Sounds like it might be fun if loud sounds (& scary Bowser?) are not an issue.

One of my earliest movie experiences (possibly questionable) for me was 6 years old watching Jurassic Park TLW, for whatever that's worth. I didn't make noise, and I actually found it cool and had a blast. Just use your best judgement, lol. Space Jam at 5 years old worked out really well too.
