IMO, the Praetorian Guard fight was one of the coolest sequences in the entire series

I love Laura Dern as an actress but hated her role in this. It would have been much more impactful, to me, if her character didn't exist in the film at all, and instead was replaced by Admiral Ackbar. Let's just say Ackbar isn't on the bridge when it blows and he assumes control of the fleet. You can have the rest of the plot go on just as it was, then when he's just about to do the lightspeed suicide, do a quick cut to Hux on the bridge of Snoke's ship. "What are they doing?", then cut back to Ackbar. "...it's a trap." Boom.

If you're listening Disney I'll write Ep IX for free.

I think i liked the movie but i'm not sure yet. I need to let it sit for a while. I am however finding it funny that the force awakens was initially received much better by audiences and it was only until later that critics complained how similar it was to the first movie, and yet here we are with a different star wars movie being loved by critics and hated by audiences for so many different reasons.

I disliked the casino scene, it seemed like a pointless detour meant to give finn and the asian girl some character development. I thought it was too long. I thought it was gonna end after the hyperspace scene when they escape to the planet and rey and kylo knocked eachother out. Aside from that, i appreciated how different this movie was. I didn't want a clone of empire strikes back, so i am pleased they tried to escape cliches and not be too predictable in this one. They definitely caught me off guard with rey's parents and snoke. Which are probably two of the things that other people hate the most.

Movie wasn't terrible. It just wasn't very good, despite having a few awesome moments.

I can live with most of it while still rolling my eyes at the derp. Would really have liked to actually get that snoke/knights of ren story and it was kind of weird it wasn't addressed at all.

I did like the cruiser suicide bomb. It's a pretty standard sci-fi trope to use a dying capital ship (or any sizeable vessel) for it's mass.

I can agree with this, especially with the dynamic between Kylo and Hux, the latter seeming like he was playing the ‘blithering sidekick’ role (after Snoke’s death).

On the whole I comfortably enjoyed it and didn’t really go in with any expectations. I loved the space battle at the beginning, definitely one of my fav parts. Interested to see what they’ll do with Leia in the next film and I can imagine the penguin/hamster things and the shiny jolteons will move a ton of merch

People keep saying this was a bad movie. Compared to other shit like Justice League I disagree. As far as being a good Star Wars movie, I can agree that it was probably one of the weaker ones. I enjoyed it for what could possibly setup in the future for the story canon instead of what didn't happen that people wanted to happen. I embrace the theme of letting the old die and starting anew.

With that said saw the movie in 3D and I rarely ever do and it was gorgeous.

still can't believe i did this, kinda in shock a little lol. walked out before the movie was even over so i've no idea how it ended. simply wasn't interesting to me. force awakens was ok, rogue one i genuinely enjoyed, but this one was just... boring. if the new generation of fans enjoys it i suppose that'll do; maybe i'm done with star wars sad as that seems.

I felt the Force Projection was pointless. It's supposed to be this big thing that he tricked Kylo, but then he dies anyway from exhaustion so why not just have Luke show up for real then? Rey made it over there in the Falcon, presumably Luke could have followed in his X Wing.

I think that there needed to be more explanation about Snoke vs. Luke in the time period between RotJ and FA. I know that the Emperor wasn't explained at all in the original trilogy, but in the original trilogy it's easier to accept we're just presented with the Empire as being in control and that's how it is and has been. But going into this trilogy we come in knowing how the Empire fell, so we have questions concerning what happened between the fall of the Empire, the rise of the First Order, and who the hell Snoke is.

The FO basically became the resistance, went into hiding, then when Luke disappeared and Snoke came out of hiding they basically gathered the what was the empire and made it the FO.

If Luke showed up for real he would have been blasted 50 ways from Sunday lol. His death was lame I agree and he should have died in 9 in a better fashion but w/e .

Oh and I would have appreciated if they committed Finn to a real suicide crash into the cannon. It's expected that they are clearing the old trio for the new one, but actually offing someone in the new trio would have upped the stakes a lot more.

Actually, even better had it been Rose! She bumps him off and then tanks herself and says "I love you!" as she blows up.

Yeah they should have given finn his run for the sun, preferably with rose being a human shield and covering him from the walker fire support.

How would this be possible? They specifically gave us shots of his X-Wing being submerged in the water, as well as various parts of the starfighter being re-purposed for doors, etc. His only chance was leaving with Rey in the Falcon.

Luke never planned on leaving the island -- he was serious about dying there from the very beginning.

I also think people didn't get how damaged he was. He has always had anger issues, hence why he almost tried to kill Ren, someone on Reddit brought up how angry he was when he almost killed his father, had the Emperor not said anything, he likely would have killed Vader. I know in the EU Luke has always been back and forth. I thought this movie was good to show him truly struggling and then finally coming back to the force after seeing Rey and Ren together. I still think Luke should have had a cooler outtro, but we'll see him as a ghost in 9. His and Yoda's scene was awesome. Yoda straight from Dagobah was a really cool moment.

I wish Luke went out in a more meaningful way. He just...vanishes...Like I said in my post, it reminded me of the Padme "lost the will to live." Although, I guess its sort of fitting that he and his mother shared the same fate in that regard.

To people who are saying "you bitch about Force Awakens because it was similar here is something different and you still bitch": Maybe some people are like that, but no, not me, full stop.

I LOVED The Force Awakens, it was most definitely a new rehash of A New Hope, but guess what? I loved A New Hope too. I'm okay with being similar if the movie is good.
I LOVED Rogue One, which was radically different from any Star Wars movie we've seen. I'm fine with doing different if the movie is good.
There were good scenes (I particularly enjoyed Luke's interpretation of what the Force was as he explained to Rey, and I really enjoyed the Throne Room fight scene) but overall this was not. a. good. movie.
