Luke also had amazing piloting abilities like his father. To quote Qui Gon - To pilot podraces you must have jedi reflexes.

Idk, I feel like I'm talking to people who wanted this to be an original trilogy remake, now with a mask-less Vader, and a machining accident survivor for a Sith Lord.
I've already stated I'm not what I consider to be a fan of Star Wars, but I can acknowledge that previous movies have had good and bad parts. I do not hold the original trilogy up on a pedestal at all, and while I didn't like the prequel trilogy movies I thought their book form wasn't that bad.

Why would a random kid force-pulling a broom be a big deal? It's already been established in previous movies that kids can have force powers. It seemed like most, if not all, were killed back in RotS, but I never took it to mean that it could never happen again. The force isn't something that's in your genes and can just be eradicated by genocide.

So pull back and let them get farther ahead, or jump somewhere else and then back so you can get closer?

Did they? Where were the shields when the ground troops were there? People and small troops seem to be able to move freely in/out of shields all the time. I think this goes to a larger problem I have with Star Wars tech. It's barely explained, if at all, and so I'm just left feeling like shit just works or doesn't whenever it's convenient to the plot.

That's a fair point. Is that how the force awoke?

I know he talked about Mediclorians (no idea if that's how you spell it) and all, but wasn't it as like a meta-physical thing and not something that's just passed down via lineage?

Up until Anakin, kids were selected for being force sensitive then trained all their life. They don't just start grabbing brooms n shit and go to wizarding school.

Huh? For the record, I thought TFA was great, and I loved Rogue One. I also appreciate the prequels for the world-building and duels they had, if nothing else.

I'm squarely not in any section of the fanbase that wanted or was predisposed to hating this movie. But I do think it's a bad movie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The fuck you talking about man? Medichlorians are way better than "the force". Also space-jesus Anakin/Vader is way more epic than fallen random Jedi Knight who happened to be a great pilot.

Oh yea, Star Wars ruined my fucking life.

Said no one who had one ever. It's a fucking movie. They went in a direction you didn't expect. Get over it.

And for the record, I'm incredibly disappointed they didn't use Luke more than they did but it's a God damn movie. Jesus.

Midichlorians were an overwrought way of explaining exactly what Luke said in TLJ. Hardly "ruined" anything.

The prequels absolutely set up a fantastic pre-dystopian Star Wars society. Yes, George Lucas' scripting and directing of the actors was awful. But when we look at the setting when put into the hands of a competent visionary, ala Dave Filoni, it's rich and inspiring.

Filoni's Clone Wars series made the prequel era pretty awesome, and much of the input came from Lucas, but was tempered into an entertaining and digestible format by Filoni.

Even the KOTOR games have large derivations from the prequel(s) that were out at the time.

Again I'm pretty sure most people aren't complaining cause it "went in a direction we didn't like."

They're complaining cause the entire thing is directionless and an overall mediocre film.

You know the KOTOR games are largely derivative of the prequels' setting, right?
No. What Luke explained was a mystical force that ties the universe together. What the prequels explained were microscopic parasites that make you psychic.

Is anyone seriously saying TLJ ruined their life? Wut

It's a bad movie imo and sure it's frustrating but life goes on.

Unless you were one of those Make A Wish kids that got to see it early. That's gotta suck on several levels.

Interview with Johnson. Basically said he didn't know what to do with Phasma. Couldn't "fit her in" with all that time spent on the widely praised casino segment & mutiny plot line. So he didn't know what to do with Phasma, Finn, & Poe, basically. Give this man a trilogy!

Also, I don't keep up with the comics, but I wonder if Snoke, how Phasma escaped, & maybe more of Kylo/Rey's training story lines were reserved for those? I don't put it past Disney to set those aside for merchandise purposes.

The author was drunk and made these claims*

Not the same as the show itself doing it.
