Nbd. If they kept the same formula ala TFA then we'd be bitching that they didn't try anything new. You can't please everyone but at least we got something original.

This. I heard some people in the theater mumbling "cop out" when Luke died.
The fuck did you want? He was stranded on an uncharted world.
It doesn't speak lengths about his power that he was able to physically fight and interact using only the Force?
The fuck out of here.
Luke died just like Obi Wan and Yoda. It couldn't be any more fitting.
So Leia's scene kinda reminded me of Quill's scene in GoG. Which was actually confirmed to be 100% possible.(I still think she should have died there, would have held more weight). But I know they didn't expect her to pass like she did.
Idk if I'd say it's not about logic, but that they don't mind being a little inconsistent if it's easy to hand wave and suspend disbelief in the name of moving the story along.
Everything Kylo and Luke in this movie I've come to really enjoy. Gonna watch it again this week to catch anything I missed.

The director is opening up about criticism of the movie.
http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/new...icism#/slide/1Lucas never made a Star Wars movie by sitting down and thinking, ‘What do the fans want to see?’
Maybe not the best example? Lol.
I don't think the survival specifics were what pissed people off, just that it was cheesy, looked bad, came out of no where (yeah Leia is force sensitive but what is this shit???) The realistic aspect of surviving is space is iffy in general, but it basically doesn't matter at all in a space opera.
Just like most of the movie they took an idea (some more interesting than others) and just executed it badly. Leia sticks out because of how hilariously bad it looks.
I really don't see why Phasma couldn't have shown up at the Casino scene. Nobody even knew Phasma was on the main ship because she wasn't shown at the time anyways, so why couldn't they have had her "tracking" Finn to parallel Boba Fett/Han in the original trilogy. Maybe Kylo sends her after the ship that left the rebel fleet. Maybe she notices it and goes off on her own. Hell, she could've just randomly been on the damn planet for all we care or even patrolling the region. Maybe instead of the Maz Kanata (is that how you spell that stupid characters name?) scene being pointless they tie that in to where Finn is actually going and she was battling the first order and phasma the entire time. This just goes to show how misdirected that whole casino ordeal was. The only point of that was to strong arm some bullshit political viewpoints. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooo fucking bad. Shame on them for making star wars their platform.
Also there's no way Rey isn't a Skywalker. If she's not I'll be shocked. How could you make a 9 part epic where only 8 of them focus on one single family with the finale of it all focusing on a completely random person. You can't argue that Kylo is the main character. And it would be really difficult to swallow that the finale goes from Father to Son to Nephew.
Phasma being at the casino would be better, but it would make 0 sense. This is right after Death Star 3.0 blew up. There would be no reason for her to be there, and no way for her to track Finn.
No way Rey is a skywalker at this point. Luke had 0 idea who she was. There's still a chance she's someone important's kid. But not a Skywalker. Most likely she and Kylo were telling the truth about her shitty parents.
So then what you're concluding is that the part 3 trilogy completely lacks direction and is unsuccessful in telling any type of substantial tale. And it's sad that it's looking that way.
Kylo already has Skywalker blood. This trilogy is as much about him as it is about Rey. She doesn't need to be one.
Well new RLM review is out and I think Rich hits the nail on the head by saying that Star Wars is creatively bankrupt. It's same shit over and over, inexperienced Jedi going against the evil empire. If you expect anything else you're in a wrong place.
TFW people went into a Star Wars movie NOT expecting new Jedis vs an Empire storyline. The fuck.
I think this also wraps up my thoughts in a video. I'll watch 1/2 in the bag when I get back to my hotel.
Did we watch the same movie? People are bitching because it's NOT the same movie. No more Skywalkers to save the day, no more Sith Lord #357 threatening the galaxy, literally the entire story revolved around setting up a future that doesn't revolve around the same shit happening every 3 movies.
And the casino hate is ludicrous. It's the only mention and example of evil/wrong in the movie universe outside of a Sith Lord fucking shit up. They literally set up future antagonist for movies and shows to come. I can understand concerns about its length or the pacing but the casino scenes definitely have meaning to the whole thing, especially since that's where we meet the kid with Force Mop. God, I can only imagine the hate if they cut the whole thing out and at the end of the movie we see some random 5 year old force pulling a broom.
