Correct, only 5* base gear/weapons can be used to augment another, as well as Rosetta Stones.

4th fest looks godly, also Steiner/Irvine are our first realm chain owners.

JP just announced a core pick up banner with new relics for Dr. Mog/Biggs/Wedge, alongside old relics for Tyro/Elarra. Dr. Mog Glint is instant Wall lol.

Specifically, five and six star gears come with 1 or more augments already loaded. Combining them into a base item transfers the existing augment, but otherwise theres nothing inherent for why you can augment with them.

oh, so I could tailor the piece with the augment I wanted by cherry picking items with that particular augment? that is very neat

Yeah although an augment is an augment- each item’s augment score only affects one stat on the item and is item specific. So if you have a sword with one augment which uses its augment score for atk, and combine it into an armor that uses the augment score for defense, the receiving item gains an augment point which increases its defense (by 1, subject to realm synergy). The important thing is that augments are never lost, just transferred, so you can always move them elsewhere (unless you are above max, like if you augmented a 1 star gear by moving a heavily augmented 3 star into it).

JP has a new gear class, legendary weapons, which are leveled up by combining relics into them counting augments, as i understand it. for completeness, rosetta stones do give normal exp to normal weapons in addition to increasing augment level when they are combined into an item.

LMR I pulled because the upside was really good (spoiler: I got the downside). OSB is an easy skip.

I think outside from the general utility if a straight LMR pull for 25 mythril, theres a better chance at +element gear with it than an OSB pull.

Yeah, personally I'm actually doing well on native elemental gear at this point. There are definitely areas that are not filled in yet, but the odds were not good to fill those
