The EU wants to tax Burbon and other products should Trump impose steel and aluminum tariffs. If the EU taxes those American made products, then he will tax EU made cars.

Still boils down to the fact that Trump is starting it in the first place and the EU is the one's retaliating in kind. Then again he moans about the EU forgetting that the EU side here things like employment laws, quality control and that are much more stringent than the US market.

Most likely the State department has been kept from spending that money, not because they're colluding with Russians, but more likely because there's no one around to approve or sign off on any action, despite it being almost 18 months since election.

Okay, so I overheard some coworkers totally writing off Trump joking about consolidating power and becoming life-PoTUS. It should be really concerning that a sitting PoTUS is making jokes like that, not that it's ridiculous that people are complaining about it.

It's concerning that he thinks it's ok to be making jokes about stuff like that, but it is a little bit heavy handed to take literally everything he says at face value. People have flown off the handle so many damn times at his obviously sarcastic comments.

People should be embarrassed that the president is making jokes about stuff like that, not outraged thinking that the guy would actually be serious about it. Do you really think that Donald Trump of all people is concocting a evil plan to be dictator for life? The guy who was privately reported to have only run for publicity?

Then again this is outrage culture so go ahead, get FURIOUS. Let that rage flow through you until happy hour.

I think it's pretty dangerous to not take the most powerful man in the world for the next 2 1/2 years at his word. The problem isn't people taking him seriously, the problem is the POTUS not taking his actions and words seriously.

I for one won't normalize his behavior. It's not normal and should be called out each and every time.

I mean, "all bets" are always off for politicians you don't like. If you really want to see that he's an upcoming fascist Mussolini Jr. then you can definitely read between the lines hard enough to get yourself some self-serving evidence. The reality however, is that while he embarrasses the US on a daily basis and consistently manages to lower his public image, once you get past the rhetoric he's no more of an authoritarian or a "fascist" than Reagan or some of the other previous conservative presidents we've had in modern times.

Of course, there were those who said Reagan was a fascist as well. Maybe everyone right of center is a fascist.

I just see this kind of thing as damaging to the progressive cause. These are the kinds of accusations that make people roll their eyes and move on. We need to be reminding people of his terrible policy and legislation, not this.
