idr saying he was a hero for being silent and eventually confirming public information
(but Gina is even worse)
good thing cause that would be lmao
tbf, we should have used the 9/11 report and the CIA torture shit as a reason to consolidate our intelligence apparatus, which would have removed this whole "appointing a lady who led the CIA's torture program to head the CIA" issue.
There are very few CIA people who survived the torture years and were untouched by it, which is why it was necessary to appoint civilians to lead them for the last few directors.
The CIA is a civilian agency though. Do you mean outsiders?
Sure, outsiders. Non-CIA people who have other civilian jobs. We've done politicians lately, but if we were pulling from a larger pool of quasi-internal intelligence officials from a merged organization that weren't affiliated with a torture program we'd have even better options.
Apparently Rex Tillerson was taking a shit when he was told he was fired.

Ivanka stepping in as Secretary of State until Pompeo takes over.
Ivanka Trump will meet with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha when she visits the U.S. following the abrupt ousting of secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Noh Kyu-duk confirmed Thursday that Trump, a White House adviser, would meet with Kang, KBS World Radio reported.
It was previously reported that Kang would meet with Tillerson to discuss talks with North Korea, among other issues, but Tillerson was ousted earlier this week from his role.
I hope I'm not the only one terrified by that.

I smell a lawsuit over this.
Also don't be surprised if we see some new damaging information come out about Trump as backlash to this.
i'd be very interested to see that IG report that recommended firing him.
Great thread about the "McCabe and his wife" timeline.

Pretty fucked up on multiple fronts. As I understand it, a brief summary:
1) McCabe's wife runs for the senate
2) as soon as he finds out it is going to happen, he internally declares a conflict of interest and figures out what he needs to recuse himself from, etc.
3) this does not include the Clinton investigation because it doesn't report to him
4) his wife loses
5) later that month, some reorganization happens and now the Clinton investigation reports to him
6) he approves some FBI people to sit down with a journalist and, unfortunately for him, the journalist chooses to write a story about how he is slow rolling an investigation he isn't even in charge of as a favor to somehow get his wife's campaign in the good graces of the Clintonites.
7) article comes out, he weathers the storm
8) Sessions fires him one day before pension for letting the people talk to the journalist that wrote an inaccurate story about McCabe.
Can he sue over this?
