She's trying to elicit a promise from Ryan that they'll take up a DACA vote the way McConnell pledged to hold one in the Senate or Democrats won't go for the Senate budget bill.

I don't know if Democrats would take the step and it might come down to them huddling up and figuring out which of them can afford the optics of voting against it even if they want it to pass. However in terms of optics and showing that Democrats are serious about prioritizing immigration this was just about the strongest and most unprecedented step they could take after Schumer struck a budget deal in the Senate. I feel like Priebus would have gotten a deal done. Kind of wild that I think Priebus might go down as Trump's *best* CoS in his tenure. Ryan is also on record as saying he isn't going to take anything up that Trump wouldn't approve if it reached his desk. Didn't Trump say this deal was DoA cause it doesn't give him his wall?

Dems are more than willing to put up "border security" money in the billions if it legalizes the dreamers - which is the deal Trump keeps saying he wants. It's all the "end chain migration/diversity lottery/cut visas in half/make America whiter, older, and poorer" shit from Miller/Kelly that is the poison pill for Democrats.

Trump vetoing a bill that contains money for his wall, passed by Republican-controlled House and Senate would be quite a sight, and I doubt it would happen. Trump and Paul Ryan are effectively running interference for each other. Ryan defers to Trump, who can't stick to what he says he wants, so Ryan throws up his hands and says "no vote".

Rand Paul might just hold out unless he gets what he wants. He's dropping truth bombs on the floor calling republicans hypocrites while Schumer saying we can't open it for amendments or everyone will want an amendment in. Mitch probably will give it to him, and Schumer won't push back and offer his own amendments cause he fucking blows.

i don't often root for Rand and nothing will come of it but it is refreshing to see at least one Republican push back on the deliriously irresponsible notion that we should raise spending immediately after we cut taxation when the nation is already lurching toward fiscal apocalypse. it is unsurprising but disheartening to be reminded fiscal responsibility and avoiding trillion dollar deficits is only of concern when a Democrat is in office.
