So Mitch brings the blank bill up monday, the senate spends some time coming up with some bill that is probably a further right version of Graham-Durbin. The house shoots it down (assuming Trump doesn't come out against it, causing Ryan to not even hold a vote). Mitch shakes an admonishing fist at Ryan/the freedom caucus saying "Well, I tried. Thanks for the spending bill, Chuck."
AFAIK President hasn't signed the budget yet. Wonder if he is going to hold out for his wall the way he said he would.
Get Mitch & Co. down to Texas laying some brick!
Also, the first paragraph of an article is p.dumb: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/...al-2018-398189
Republican legislative victory? That they failed to stop the government from shutting down with a majority in the House and the Senate? Politico plz
Because "legislative victory" is when you get something that you want over the protestations of your opponents ("for Republicans"), or pass landmark legislation that redefines social norms. Obamacare was a "legislative victory."
This is just funding the fucking government.
Will not driving us over the fiscal cliff in a few weeks also be a legislative victory?
How mundane and obviously bipartisan can bills get before they are not considered partisan legislative victories?
too bad can't be for a month instead
Had to edit to include the brain-dead dichotomy expressed in the second Trump tweet. The only thing government is allowed to spend money on is the military and thank god the GOP understands that.
btw, they apparently lifted the debt ceiling in this bill too, so they won't be able to attach a billion riders to that in two weeks
We're actually back to just needing them to do something about DACA, and otherwise they don't have very many pressing issues on their plates.
Starting to think a lot of these "conservatives" are anything but.

Nunes has his own news org.
Trump is insane. "DON'T VOTE DEMOCRAT YOU ONLY NEED ONE PARTY" says the President with a Republican majority.
The next House special election is in western Pennsylvania on March 13th, this is the one where the anti-abortion House member Tim Murphy got caught in a scandal where he asked his mistress to have an abortion and resigned. It's a R+11 district, 96% white, latest poll shows the Republican leading by only 3. Murphy had never won an election by less than 16 points in the 8 times he was elected. He was unopposed in 2014 and 2016.

This is a big one, flipping a House seat now in such an unlikely district, especially in a swing state, would be a huge win.
If he's not already, this is exactly the kind or race Joe Biden is trying to influence.
