Gotenks is pretty good. He has high low mixups beam cancels as well as the tornado move, and there's a lot of stupid shit you can do with delayed ghosts. He's also short so he falls out of some combos, and can 2h agohan out of ex legs because part of it whiffs. Same with kid buu, which is why I imagine he is playing them both.

I hear that after getting less entrants than 2-year-old SFV at the last few majors, DBFZ is on track to have more entrants than SFV in a tournament 3 months from now. The stories of legend are all true!

I do like how none of these Evo updates have actual numbers, though... I imagine the numbers for the tumbleweed games are not pretty. If BB, GG, or IJ2 wind up with less than 650 entrants (UMVC3 had 648 last year), it's going to be pretty interesting to hear more about why Marvel was excluded.

Just kidding, it will be perfectly clear when pot bonus data becomes public. The irony is that after the last two years of dead-enders screaming that SFV only had record-breaking numbers of entrants because of Sony's Money In The Prize Pool, Namco/ArcSys/WB pot bonuses may very well be determining which games receive the opportunity to have entrants in the first place.

Jesus fuck you guys have short memories. SF4 was thrashed constantly (by current & past top players too!) but it's bullshit was something people were fine with or just dealt with. If DBFZ ends up with way less registrants next year for Evo, are ya'll going to give it the same treatment as you do SFV? Of course not. You enjoy the game so it gets a pass.

Isn't the whole root of this argument since day 1 that SFV isn't fun? Which serves to greatly magnify all it's problems. If a game is flawed but enjoyable, alot is forgiveable. No one would pretend for a second that MvC 2 or 3 didn't have problems at a base level, but they were so goddamn fun to play and watch it didn't matter.

Just to reemphasize a point that I had not seen mentioned prior to my last post: at Evo 2017, the only fighting game that did not have a pot bonus from its developer was UMVC3... which SRK required a $70k+ ransom to allow in. Every other fighting game (yes, including KOF XIV) had a corporate pot bonus.

If Capcom(/Marvel/Disney) was not willing to fund a pot bonus for Evo MVCI, was that alone enough to keep it from being included? That explanation makes a lot more sense than the BS Wiz served up, though obviously stating such a position publicly would be... controversial. Guess we'll find out which developers are paying for what.
