Is Broly actually good? I've been travelling the last two weeks so haven't really had time to watch streams or anything, but from what time I've spent fucking around he doesn't seem that great outside of his armor gimmicks. Which granted, is a great gimmick to have.
He has his faults, but to be honest every character in this game is currently viable. I play him anchor. His lv3 does absurd damage. How cr.m has insane range. Honestly, you don't realize how good he is until you play against a Broly and are scared to do anything. His assist is also very good.
That said, I think Bardock is better. Broly is probably about where A16 SHOULD be. Perfectly balanced big body that makes your opponent scared of armor, doesn't do absurd damage, but also feels powerful for the user.
Oh and any time you block a button you're in a 50/50 between an armored grab or an armored fireball.
Old SNK's sound quality has always been so chunky and terrible. There were a few SF titles that had sound I hated (alpha 3, specifically for that shitty OST and annoying announcer), but even later SNK titles like SVC Chaos just had this weird, gritty, crunchy sound quality that was always a turnoff. A shame because of some of the tracks themselves are quite good.
KOF 97? Talk about a game without an audience. This is like if Capcom decided to re-release SSF2 as a standalone product with online play. It's like, why? 97 is just a worse version of 98.
my only memory of KOF97 was playing a demo of it on one of the old PSX demo discs when i first got my system, and wanting to go back to SF2 on the SNES. that impression stayed with me for a very long time, as i don't think i ever gave the series a serious chance until XIII.
