    Just got back from Sinners.

I second going into the movie knowing as little as possible. Great great movie that everyone who likes movies should see. Don't let the title or horror genre fool you, the movie isn't trying to scare you. It has its scary moments, but honestly it's way more of a story than a scary story.

The trailers did it right. Showed you next to nothing about what it's about. Just do yourself a favor and watch it, might just be one of the better films of the year. Great ending too, felt very satisfied leaving the theater.

Just got back from seeing this as well. Cosigning everything everyone else has said.

    I'll add that there's a mid-credits scene, so don't leave right away.

I finally watched X. It was ok. Started watching Pearl and I only made it through a quarter of the movie before I stopped it. Probably wasn’t a good idea to watch it right after, but it just wasn’t grabbing my interest. It started out just poking the audience with “remember this from the first movie?” And then after a bit of that it moves on to its own story. I feel like this movie would be a thousand times more interesting to me if I hadn’t seen X. If I didn’t know exactly where the character was heading toward. Its shot really well and written well and everything about it is done well. But… yeah. Maybe I’ll try to finish it up in a few days. I’m more interested in Maxxxine, but it seems like that got the worst ratings of the 3 films.

Watched Drop (2025). Thought I'd like it more, but 2nd act just kinda dragged for me. It was fine. Worth 90 minutes. I think the reviews made me a bit more excited for it.

Watched "Under the Skin" today. Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest). I will rave about this movie for a very long time. Felt like I was watching Baraka at times, but with Scarlett Johansson being incredibly hot in an absolutely unhinged fucking story. I loved every second of that movie. Love love loved it. Def one of my "favorite movies you've probably never watched".

can't believe i forgot to mention the monkey

absolutely loved it, it was so ridiculous with the gore (which actually works for me, as i'm otherwise anti-gore)

I just watched Sinners with a couple of my kids. The 13 year old said he thought it was the best movie we've watched in the home theater.

It's not really hyperbole. Probably my favorite movie, not named Dune, since Everything Everywhere All At Once. It was excellent. I'm already dying to rewatch it. The scene with Sammie playing the blues in the juke joint was one of my favorite scenes I can remember in a long time. This was in 70mm imax? What a fucking experience that would have been.

I watched it recently and its a good movie with some amazing scenes and music but I think as a whole its overrated. Def something that should be seen in Imax.

They mad libs'd the plot and made my favorite horror film since The Cabin in the Woods.

Imagine Coogler walking in for the pitch..."Look, I drew topics out of a hat and what I got for you today is a rated R 1930's Jim Crow era musical horror movie with vampires that focuses on black culture. Oh, the lead actor is playing 2 characters.".

And what they made was magic.

Edit: just started it again with wife and daughter. So excited.

I usually don't say things I love are overrated

Sinners was great, probably best of the year so far but the bar is very low. Andor is still the best thing on a screen this year by a mile and a half.
