The team line ups are interesting, and also look like they're ignoring that 30+ named mutants died during the last Uncanny arc. Madrox, Sunspot, Magik, Wolfsbane, Havok, Chamber, and a bunch of others are all shown on teams.

The current Uncanny series isn't bad, but there have been so many completely unnecessary deaths with no real emotional weight throughout it. Undoing most (if not all of them) isn't the worst idea.

I feel like Wolfsbane could stay dead tho, Rayne as a character ran her course during Peter David's X-Factor run and her death actually had some value.

They killed a bunch of X-Men/New Mutants but also a staggering number of 90s villains. I think all-in-all Rosenberg's run killed the Marauders, the Morlocks, the Nasty Boys, Joseph, some Acolytes, and a couple others.

Aside, I only got so far caught up with what has been happening in the X-books for the last few years before just jumping into the current Uncanny run (since real Scott is back), how did Havoc's face get healed?

It was during the mothervine stuff when evil Havok teamed up with Emma, Miss Sinister and Bastion. Thanks to Emma, Polaris restored Havoks original personality and had Elixer restore his face.

Is it something I can get into without going back into other story arcs?

I had a Marvel Unlimited sub a while back where I was reading some of the Uncanny series (X Force, Avengers, etc.), but stopped along the way. If I can hop in without needing backstory from another arc I might pick it up. Would like to find a store in my area. Used to have a comic book shop up the block from my apartment.

Just going off of issue 1 it might help to be familiar with Grant Morrison's run on X-Men in 2000, and to have a basic idea of what happened in Hickman's other Marvel work (S.H.I.E.L.D., Fantastic Four, New Avengers) but it looks like that would be more for spotting Easter eggs than anything else.

Hickman wrote great dialogue for Dr Doom and I already like what he's doing with Magneto. Can't wait to see how this series plays out.

House of X was not what I expected at all. I have so many questions and can't wait for the answers.

Can anyone give me the tl;dr of why heroes like Cyclops, Jean, and Xavier are pretty much like "fuck it, we're just going along with Magneto to isolate ourselves so we don't have to deal with this human bullshit?" I was kinda surprised that Franklin Richards was literally the only omega on humanity's side.

The drama behind that is very interesting to me.

Anyway, I loved this issue, the art and the character design looks sooo cool. Magneto, Cyclops, and those psychic twins look really cool.

Thats kinda the big question, house of x and powers of x(read ten) will jump between each other over the next 6 issues revealing more and more, all this being a giant reset for the xmen series.

The recent history for x-titles is a convoluted clusterfuck of good and many many bad ideas(thank God Bendis jumped ship to DC) , it's hard to give a quick tl;dr and I would just first see where this is going.

That being said, professor x has been dead for a good while and was only recently brought back, but not quite the same anymore and he made sure no one remembers he's back.

Aside from his return, we haven't heard from him since and not sure how that relates now.

I didn't really get what was happening with that space station and the head of a sentinel. Is all that stuff supposed to make sense later or did I just miss something obvious?
