Needed to change my pants after King in Black #4. Black Panther tie-in was also good.

I couldn't believe how smart the reveal in King in Black #4 was. That's how you use established lore.

Venom #34 and King in Black #5, holy fuckballs. Whoever's taking over Venom after this has got some serious shoes to fill haha. No fucking pressure.

None of my normal places have the King in Black available yet and I am going crazy waiting for it over here.

Is it really time for a new Superman? Clark Kent has only been doing it for 85 years, it just feels like DC is moving too fast in replacing these classic characters.

I haven't been keeping up with DC. What's the tl;dr about Clark? Is he retiring?

More or less, Jon is doing more and more Superman stuff so Clark sees a time when he can pass the mantle on.

Whelp apparently I'm into comics now thanks to Invincible. Had some friend recommend a bunch of "complete stories" where either the story is fully complete or they recommended various complete arcs.

Haven't read much of what I've gotten yet, but jesus God Country is amazing for only six issues. Other than that I'm going through: The Wicked + The Divine, East of West, the 2018 venom, and Thor: God of Thunder and all are great with WikDiv being the clear standout for my tastes so far. Honestly for my tastes it seems like Image just trounces Marvel and DC.

If anyone else has any must haves for stories that are done, I'm all ears. I'm looking for stuff that once you finished you basically put it down and just went "damn, that was good."

Stuff I also own based on this criteria but haven't started yet are....
    -Sex Criminals
-Saga (which I hear has a massive cliffhanger. I bought it thinking the 2018 haitus meant that the current arc was done)
    -Descender
    -Astonishing X-men Joss Whedon issues
    -Southern Bastards
    -Die
    -Oblivion Song
    -Gideon Falls
-Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett and Lanning

Can cosign that East of West is excellent, worth reading Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four/FF as well.

Chew is also a good story, if you can get used to the art style.

I JUST ordered the first hardcover of outcast from a local comic shop. Seems great. Also I read Y The Last Man in like 2004 in college which apparently means I read 25% of it ish. I remember loving it so I may have to restart/finish it. I haven't even heard of a few of the others so I'll definitely check it out. Looks like with you and Zealot both recommending the Hickman FF I may have to grab that as well eventually. I've always wanted to like them but every version I see in tv/movies just sucks but obviously there can be something there as they have endured for so long.

It also looks like I'm entering at a time when I can get the fancy hardcover collected sets of a lot of great series now.

Edit: Just looked into 100 bullets. I'm honestly extremely impressed that a series like this actually finished. There are so many tv shows where people have to do X number of things and they always get canceled. Plus, there is a hardcover omnibus that was just released for the first half? I'm in.

I looked into this one yesterday. I am hesitant because of the art style as you said buuuuut the story does seem like something I would enjoy.

I fell out of comics years ago because the sites I got my t's stopped being useful, and never found a replacement.
(Edit: And not just that, but info/blurbs/synopsis on new releases/series starting. The site I used shuttered, nothing else was good. Might find me complaining about it if you go back in the old comic thread.)
But can confirm, Image has the best stuff, only Vertigo could come close. To many recommendations already made to cosign.

    Additionally

    Prophet (2012)
    The Spire
    Transmetropolitan
James Tynion IV's stuff (Memetic, Cognetic, The Woods, etc.)

Krandor hit most of mine, and Image (and Vertigo before them) does indeed regularly crush the mainline publishers when it comes to comics as a r t.

Sandman is the big one missing tho. for my money still the greatest story ever told in the medium. and most anything by Alan Moore, Watchmen and his Swamp Thing run in particular. Monstress is prolly my favorite thing currently running but far from finished, will be years.

oh and Fables is great. kinda loses its way tho.

Fables was/still kinda is my jam, but it definitely went on for too long and then just kinda... ended.

If you need a long read though it's still solid though. Got all 22 volumes sitting on my bookshelf and i'll still read through it again every couple years.

Some other stuff looking at my graphic novels of non-Image stuff...

    Geoff Johns Green Lantern run
Ed Brubaker's Captain America/Daredevil/Iron Fist runs
    Matt Fraction's Invincible Iron Man
    Garth Ennis's Punisher

and you mentioned Guardians of the Galaxy, I strongly strongly recommend doing the entire cosmic Marvel run (Annihilation/Annihilation Conquest/War of Kings/Realm of Kings/Thanos Imperative and the assorted fillers). I wouldn't really bother with the Annihilators follow-up after Thanos Imperative finished tho, unless you feel the need to be a completist about it.

I also keep forgetting about Sandman even though I’ve looked at it before I went on my recent shopping spree. It’s definitely on the list.

I just found out about Fables today and didn’t know it’s the source material for the wolf among us. They just released a like 50 issue volume part 1 for $35 which is a pretty crazy price so I may have to give it a go just for that.

I can't recommend Fables simply based on how much the quality drops off for the last 3 collections. If you're going to read it, you can probably stop after the Homelands graphic.
