I'm realizing right now I'm enjoying characters that are brand new to me over well established ones, but I've made a few exceptions such as Green Lantern as well...he's my fav and so many people recommended the two batman ones I listed that I figured I had to add it. Court of Owls has a nice deluxe hardcover coming out this fall so I'll probably wait for that one.

Morning Glories was good but I hope you're aware that it just... stopped mid story.

At some point maybe possibly Nick Spencer will finish it, but season 2 of it ended like 5 years with nothing in the plot resolved

Ugh. I knew it wasn’t finished yet but I didn’t know it had been five years. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll hold off on that one for now. At least with saga we had a fairly recent update that it’s at least coming.

Any chance you mean Mr Miracle? I'm seeing a recent 12 issue set by him by that name that won an Eisner so I'm guessing that's correct but thought I would check.

Still thanks for the rec. Given that it's a 12 issue complete set + Eisner winning + me having never heard of it, this fits my criteria quite well.

Yeah Morning Glories had like a 8 months pause between issues 49 and 50, and then 50 came out which wrapped up season 2 (since the series is broken up into 25 issues "seasons") and then..... nothing.

Spencer had said it was planned to be 4 seasons (so 100 issues) but then stopped working on it. Which is sadly pretty par for the course for him, he's written some other stuff for image where it just stops with no explanation.

This is exactly why I initially asked for complete series. I can't stand when I get like really into something with a great premise only to find out that it was canceled or whatever. I'm only really jumping into Saga given how it tops a ton of 'best of' lists and the promise of the people doing it that yes, there is more coming.

Saga is the bee's knees and Vaughan has finished everything he's ever started, but what's completed hitherto ends on a brutal cliffhanger, the first half took 6 years to write, and it's been on a hiatus for 3 years now. unless he dies he'll finish it but we're looking at a completion date of 2028 at the earliest so strap in for the long-haul.

The cliffhanger + wait has been brutal but I absolutely adore BKV's work so worth it. Prior to the pause Saga was consistently being referenced as the comic on the planet, and I'd assume we'll get back to that point when it returns (though it'll be competing with Monstress now)

actually Kran’s list made me realize i haven’t read any Remender, nabbed Tokyo Ghost and the first volumes of Low and Seven to Eternity. lessgo.

Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force is damn near perfect as a story with the underlying theme of the trauma of being a super hero.

The rest of his work at Marvel is mostly about how much he hates The Age of Apocalypse from what I can tell.

while i know there's some great stuff extant in it i can't stomach most cape shit from DC or Marvel tbh. anything beyond Batman and Punisher got me tapping out.

Just finished Paper Girls. Absolutely excellent. One of the better riffs on time travel I've probably read/watched/listened to before.
