hell yeah brother it gets kinda lost between Y and Saga but it's up there with any of Vaughan's work. Amazon is mid-production on a television adaptation, hope they do it right.

Any chance you all have out of print deluxe editions and want to make some cash?

I’m specifically looking for black science hardcover volume 2 of 3, wicked divine year 3 hardcover, and the two deadly class volumes (yellow and pink covers). Specifically ones with no dented corners. I’m open to other stuff to if you have stuff you want to unload.

I’ve gotten a bunch of stuff on eBay for good prices but these simply don’t get posted often or get posted for dumb prices that aren’t justified by the recently sold list.

Apparently DC asked the Harley Quinn animated show team to take out a scene where Bats goes down on Catwoman because "Heroes don't do that". THAT'S CANON, FOLKS

DC's reasoning was that it would be hard to sell toys of Batman if there's images of him going down on Catwoman and obviously, hard disagree. Who here is not buying a 12'' die-cast sculpture of Batman tongue-boxing a pussy? That's not even getting into articulated action figures.

Make it one of those fake oralsex toys with a spinning tongue and just put a bat mask around it. Boom. Done.

Planet-Sized X-Men was good and continues to follow Hickman's trend of using wordplay in his titles.

It was engaging, intriguing, and well-written, which is great because it's the follow-up to X of Swords, which was... not.

I will probably look into that at some point too. I don’t usually do too much superhero stuff but the quality of the one I’m reading now is getting my hopeful for others. I have the first Geoff Johns green lantern omnibus ordered and I’m reallllly looking forward to that one as green lantern has probably always been my favorite (with flash being a close second if anyone has any incredibly long omnibus reads on the same quality that the Geoff Johns green lantern is supposed to be)

Because of you all and some other friends I’ve spent far far far too much on comics recently. Like $1500 too much. Luckily the gamestonks thread paid for well...all of it so that helps.

Geoff Johns had phenomenal runs on both Green Lantern and the Flash but watch out for everything post-Green Lantern Rebirth. The Green Lantern title itself is still good for his duration on it through the Sinestro War but eventually Johns falls in love with telling the story of the story instead of the story itself.

Blackest Night is probably the biggest and most obvious waste of potential I've ever read issue to issue. Like Issue 1 is SpecTACular, Issue 2 is fantastic, and then issue 3 is good, and by the time you get to issue 8 it's legitimately one of the most overbooked, arduous reads this side of AvX. The Brightest Day follow-up to it was good still, so I guess the lesson is just don't read anything from Johns that ties in to a larger event.

Isn’t blackest night usually considered one of the best lantern arcs of all time? Not to discount your statement but do you think in this case it may be personal preference that doesn’t fall in line with the mainstream?

Blackest Night is one of the best bad comic events ever made. Like the storyline gets really dumb, but the art is absolutely beautiful and as a big capstone to everything Johns had been doing up to that point it is quite satisfying. The entire thing gets wildly wildly over the top to, which is part of what makes it fun, but it heavily falls into the "turn your brain off" category of entertainment where you can't think hard about what you're reading.

I have never seen that sentiment, but I also don't go around looking for other people's opinions on comic books very often. To me Blackest Night got worse with every issue. And not like Secret Invasion where it started out hype and then just turned out cliche and meh, I'm talking like drove itself off a cliff on fire and hit every rock on the way down, and then hit a riptide that carried it out to sea where it was eaten by a shark that was itself murdered by porpoises and drifted into the bottom of the Mariana trench before being sucked into a volcanic fissure and disappearing from the perception of any living thing. And somehow through all that it never stopped being on fire.

The BUILD UP to Blackest Night is absolutely gripping and there are moments in the first two issues that are genuinely terrifying, earned moments. Everything from there is pointless and increasingly dumb.

    Fair enough.

One reason I mentioned the rankings is since I’m just getting into all this I googled a loooooot of lists. It’s near the top of a lot of them, and on some green lantern specific ones it is the top, but the critiques are all quite valid and I can definitely see it being a dealbreaker. I definitely appreciate the heads up as it will help me from getting overly excited once I finally get to it.

Blackest Night is kind of like those TV shows that started off incredible and built the storyline up for years, then had a wet fart of a series finale (but not like GoT bad, more like... Battlestar Galactica). You are still 100% committed to finishing to see the payoff to everything, and while it might feel weak, in the greater context of what you had been experiencing you're still happy.

If you could separate Blackest Night as an individual story by itself it's pretty weak, but it's value and entertainment is in the years and years of build up leading to it. There's references to stuff Johns was writing from the very first pages of when he rebooted Green Lantern, and as you read the story you understand more and more of these references he's been making for the last half decade and the reward for that is fantastic.

You know what the best way to describe it is? Every issue is like "look at THIS cool thing happening!" And the next issue immediately goes "forget that, it's dumb now, look at THIS cool thing instead!"

Oh if I know that going in I'm 100% down for it. I’ll treat it like a B action film.

Also I got the kill or be killed omnibus in today. On like issue 5 or something so far. I already feel highly invested.
