We're at a year plus since the last issue of Saga. As much as I love a lot of stuff Image puts out the inconsistent scheduling is so awful (looking at you Lazarus)
Monstress at least has stayed pretty consistent with 6 issues/6 months off.
Finished the two Invincible compendiums and am reading the last one on my phone, almost done with Saga, any recommendations for stuff to look for next? Checked the catalog for Y the Last Man but some of the volumes are digital only so I'll probably just fully read it that way. Been largely out of the loop on graphic novels outside of the big obvious ones mentioned here, and TWD I guess. I did put a hold on Keanu's BRZRKR for shits and giggles, idk if its supposed to be any good but I was curious.
BRZRKR's not bad at all. Ive read the first volume but no further. The character is john wick crossed with the Immortal from invincible. Poor bastard.
I've heard Descender is really good.

Descender was awesome.
The second half of the story (Ascender) was a lot weaker imo.
If you can handle how lewd and incredibly NSFW it is, Sunstone volumes 1-5 is one of the best comics I've ever read.
As mentioned Y The Last Man is an absolute classic. Preacher (my all time favorite comic) or Fables are also some great stuff from Vertigo
thanks looks like I can get all those but Sunstone
Yeah that's not gonna be available at the library lol.
I suspected from your description but know nothing about it beyond that lol
It's about two lesbians who frequent a BDSM club and slowly fall in love beyond their dom/sub relationship.
Its genres are tagged as Erotica/Fetish/Romantic Comedy/BDSM, so yeah
ah well yeah makes sense then
I really can't recommend Fables past issue #75. Starts to really go downhill after the first major story arc concludes.

Memetic, Cognetic, The Woods by Tynion IV
The Fiction by Pires & Rubin
Die by Gillen & Hans
The Spire by Spurrier & Stokely
Prophet (2012)
We Stand on Guard by Vaughan & Skroce
Arcadia by Paknadel & Pfeiffer
Monstress by Liu & Takeda
The Wicked + The Divine by Gillen & McKelvie
And same boat as Sunstone & Fine Print, but
Sex Criminals by Fraction & Zdarsky
Also, they are unfinished, but
Nonplayer by Nate Simpson
Orc Stain by Stokoe
is that Matt Fraction like the Hawkeye run (among other things) I've had recommended elsewhere?
Same general quirkiness yes, but if the name Sex Criminals doesn't make it obvious, a very different kind of story.
Just making sure I was thinking of the right guy, comics is an area I've only dabbled in so there are unfortunately only a few names who I have any real knowledge of or association with their work, and then there's a few others I'd be like oh that name is familiar (like Zdarsky I've heard before but couldn't tell you what they've done).
Fraction in general tends to be a good comic writer.
Do A Powerbomb is a fun and quick read by Daniel Warren Johnson. The current Transformers series also RULED but I can't speak for anything past issue 25, I fell off when the creative team changed.

Writers from this century (imo) that you can trust to always put out a good product
Jonathan Hickman (probably the most consistently good writer of the last twenty years. His Secret Warriors/Fantastic Four/Avengers/Secret Wars run from 2009 to 2015 is an all timer)
Grant Morrison
Ed Brubaker
Brian K Vaughan
Kieron Gillen
Greg Rucka
Rick Remender
Geoff Johns
Matt Fraction
Brian Michael Bendis and Garth Ennis are also some very big names who have put out really good stuff, but they have also unleashed some absolute stinkers into the world
I read Ultimate Spider-Man which was Bendis I think.
Read some of Miles' stuff after. Other marvel things: Read most of Civil War and a hundred or so issues of Spider-Man and then Superior Spider-Man. Some Deadpool stuff as well, Cable and Deadpool mainly. Original Sin for some random reason, people mightve been talking about it on here.
DC mainly just limited stuff that people praise and recommend all the time, Killing Joke, Long Halloween, Year One, All Star Superman and a couple others I don't remember right off.
Ultimate Spider Man is far and away Bendis best work.
He is exceptional at writing wall of text teen angst which is exactly what Spider Man called for. Unfortunately his dialogue style doesn't really change for other stuff he writes which can become quite off putting
Great Marvel stuff from the last 20ish years
These first 4 are generational runs that everyone should read no questions asked.
Hickman Fantastic Four/FF
Morrison New X-Men
Remender Uncanny X-Force
Whedon Astonishing X-Men
Cosmic Marvel - Annihilation/Annihilation Conquest/War of Kings/Realm of Kings/Thanos Imperative
Brubaker/Fraction Immortal Iron Fist
Brubaker Daredevil
Brubaker Captain America
Fraction Invincible Iron Man
Fraction Hawkeye
