So if I'm reading this correctly, Twitch is now DMCAing people if copyrighted music is playing in their streams, warned their partners, but let the plebs suffer and take a strike?

Ummm Twitch has been signaling they may have to do this in the future for awhile. It's not really their fault, they are between a rock and a hard place due to DMCA.

I think the part that is specifically causing an uproar atm is that some streamers are getting their accounts flagged for old vids they already deleted in preparation for this coming.

I mainly follow music streamers and from my understanding, covers are okay, but for live learns they won't play audio while learning the song. They'll either temporarily cut audio completely while learning it or play through headphones.

For example, Halocene streams regularly and they'll do popular covers, but for any song they're learning they cut audio and play highlight clips while you can see them learning the song on the side. I imagine they know what is and isn't allowed when it comes to DMCA.
