Spoiler: show
It's real. Basically a softcore porn category
If your kids are more spaceflight prone, Everyday Astronaut and Scott Manley have some good quality vids (and who amongst us doesn't hear that soft baritone everytime you read "Scott Manley here")
Periodic Table of Videos is a nice one for Chemistry
Crash Course is also pretty good having already mentioned SciShow.
Though admittedly I haven't seen any in a while.
Extra Credits is also good for history stuff.
Wouldn't that just further the problem of dumb gimmick streams to expose as much skin as possible by giving it a category of its own separate from the rest of the crowd?
If they're segregated from the other, non softcore streams, then who cares? I for one am totally surprised there's legit male chill tub streams. Infact, lots of niches in here and now I'm wondering what other twitch niches there are.
I already found aquarium twitch, pokemon trading card gambling twitch, 3d printer twitch, it's been pretty fun lately lol.

Honestly the ad revenue is probably a tiny drop in the bucket. THese girls are making hundreds if not thousands a day via direct donations. Cutting off ads isn't much of a deterrent.
Just here chuckling that they'll make a tag for this but not vtubers/virtual streamers.
What’s a vtuber/virtual streamer?
Basically people using Live2D or 3D avatars instead of livecams. I differentiate it primarily because it is a form of artistic expression and some take it a step further to even roleplay as the character they created. Pragmatically, I'd also say it gives streamer a way to express themselves without worrying about being attractive, making sure makeup is perfect, etc.. The more creatively inclined can also create their own environments if they're just chatting or trying to set a specific mood for the stream, which is generally where I derive the similarity to this hot tub stuff since Twitch previously rejected the tag idea claiming tags were meant to be about the content and not the streamer.
I mean, this tag IS about the content. The content of partially-clothed titties. That's the content.
To sum it up, a real person who uses a 2d/3d Animated avatar as their "face" instead of a legit face cam. This Apex Streamer I've followed for a while, discovered him during a Twitch Rivals stream some years back, got a Vtuber avatar a couple months back and uses it now, so here's an example of what it is.
I'm kinda in the boat of just not giving a shit. If simps wanna watch soft core porn have at it, Its not my cup of tea but I never see or watch them so... its not hurting me none, and I don't think its hurting the platform outside of maybe making new streamers harder to find because algorithms or some such, but even then, cannot confirm. I think a lot of times it stems from the "Rules for thee not for me" mindset where female streamers, especially popular ones, get slaps on the wrist for doing some real porn tier shit (we've posted it before here), where as someone like Dr.Disrespect can pretty much get axed over-night with no public reason given. I THINK thats where most peoples hate of this shit stems from, but I cant be sure.
Its one of those non-problems I think most people who are against it would stop caring if they really sat down and tried to think out why they currently care enough to be "Against it". It really is a "This will sort itself or implode eventually and the guy Im watching isn't going anywhere so who cares?"
Meanwhile you got jakenbake doing some 5d chess streaming with his personal mute while taking a car to the race track.

CodeMiko is probably one of the better vtubers out there on twitch at the moment and she has some streams where she shows off the tech she uses to make her character. And to be on topic with the hot tub meta, she interviewed Amourath a bit ago and she said she gets more viewers when she's offscreen changing into a bikini than onscreen.
