Even normal content creators are affected by Youtube Red because Red removed ads website-wide. It wasn't only Youtube Red content.

No wonder I see so many people flocking to patreon. I'm really tempted to just into the platform and try not to deal with YouTube drama. They're doing great things over there and do a good job of making me want to support them directly.

At this point if you're a content creator you have a Youtube for ad-driven money. A Patreon so donators can throw money at you for extra videos and perks up to and including editor status. And Likely you're doing Twitch streams to get that extra currency in.

The work for something like this must be tiring.

There's a reason so many youtube people are in networks. It's not just all the content you have to make, but there's also reaching out for collaborations to expand your audience and, if you're successful enough, negotiating brand deals and making content for those as well.

We have Red for the combination of supporting video makers without having to watch ads, and background play on mobile. If they're doing away with the former, I'll be cancelling and putting the $15/mo for the 'family' plan into additional Patreon stuff. It's a shame.

Well his YTR subscription supporting creators may change.

I haven't seen anything or read anything that suggestions that Premium will supply content creators with less money than Red does.

However going forward it means more people will likely not have youtube red but just youtube music unless google music is also getting rebranded as youtube music. Shit is dumb yo.

Looks like they plan to co-exist for a while until they get enough features built into the youtube version. Expecting they will eventually shut it down though.

Word is, Youtube Red is being replaced with Youtube Music and Youtube Premium. Youtube Premium will be mainly what Red is now. The big problem I'm hearing, is that Youtube Premium will not pay creators for videos watched by Premium Users, like they get paid with Red currently. So basically Youtube shitting on creators again.

I haven't looked into it beyond a quick search about it, which yielded articles that only mentioned the split and price changes. If anyone else finds confirmation of Kaslo's claim, I'd be interested in seeing it.

I basically saw some youtubers tweeting about it. It most likely is that YouTube has not told creators anything and they are fearing the worst
