What should be said if a company drops the ball? I don't think it's limited to gamers, but media as a whole has become a bit of a cluster fuck with the proliferation of social media nonsense. I can't claim to know how things were 10-20 years ago, but I really don't ever recall death threats, doxing, SJW rage wars, boycotts over mundane details, etc, being a thing ever before. Now a days? If you drop the ball on a lore piece, take a movie or game in a direction that some fans don't agree with, delay your product, etc, you're going to get torn apart. I think we simplify the issue by just calling it entitlement, I think that undersells the issue. Death threats to actors or devs still leave me scratching my head.
I miss the good ol' days when if something was bad, you just didn't buy it. Or you bought it and learned the value of doing your own research before making that choice. Anymore, it feels like rather than "live and learn", we just rage online over every detail. Call it fake news, call it entitlement, whatever. I find myself thinking more and more that I agree with whoever called it a "social media epidemic." I forget who said it or where it came from.
no no that's a totally routine aspect of the exchange of goods and services for fiat currency didn't you ever take an economics course
totes entitlement tho xno
Oh boy it gets better and better. Seems stocks already dipping a bunch
Pretty sure the stock dropping has very little to do with the announcement of whatever games Blizzard is developing and everything to do with the recent earnings call, which showed less then expected numbers for Black Ops 4 and Destiny 2
I mean considering they've literally been handing out Destiny 2 for free and already discounted Forsaken yup. Saw this coming.
Biggest problem has been the steady decline of user-generated content.
Games are all virtual fucking duplicates of each other.
That's just my opinion though. When gamers were engaged to make new content for their favorite titles it allowed for endless innovation that spawned some great mods.
You just don't see that anymore.
playin' the wrong games then.
Civilization, Paradox's Stellaris, Kerbal Space Program, Homeworld, Banished, Skyrim, Fallout, Sins of a Solar Empire, XCOM
those are just the games i have installed right now that have huge modding communities actively encouraged by the devs. granted, some are old, but others still get regular content updates.
I just havent been able to get into the newest Civ...
that's probably just because it isn't very good.
but the entitled defecatory pugilist is correct, Kuro you are high as balls if you think there's less mod content than before, or the even more absurd claim all games are duplicates of each other. the Bethesda RPGs, the Witcher, anything Paradox releases, anything Rockstar releases, anything Bioware releases, Minecraft, Civ, Total War, Kerbal, FTL, Dragon Age, etc etc etc. everything from total conversion to fanmade narratives to quality of life to shinier graphics, I don't think there's ever been a richer PC mod community than there is now, greatly aided by Steam Workshop.
Hot take maybe, but Witcher 3 is completely unfucking playable without mods to fix that shitty ass inventory system.
Really only a hot take if people have only played on console.
think I dropped 20ish mods on the Witcher 3 before I ever started playing it imagine going to vanilla would be ghastly
Witcher 3 on console checking in
