Let's get back to talking about Witcher 3. I'm really loving it. The only thing I don't like about the gameplay is the ability to get shitfucked with saves if you accidentally trigger one of the very high level quests they stick in your way. I had to replay a solid 10 minutes from an old save because it kicked me into a level 25 quest somewhere in Novigrad.

You on pc or console? Cause the save system is the one thing I'm super happy with management wise in this game. The game has super frequent auto saves incase the unexpected death happens, and the manual saves are easy to get to and load during any part of the game. I'm doubly impressed cause this is all easy to manage from a controller, which is the only way I play RPGs on PC. I've easily saved scummed a few times just to see how choices affect outcome, and although I never have the need to save scum after the first try the option to have quick and easy saves has just made this game a blast to pick up for a few min and put back down. Loading isnt even an issue in this game, but I think that's more to do with my ssd and not the game itself.

Oh, it was my own dumb fault but I had forgot to F5 and I was in the middle of another quest. I'm playing on PC. I was on a long bit of "walk, listen, talk" portion of the quest and right at the end I zigged into a trigger for a high level quest. Had to rewalk the whole fuckin thing because it wasn't cutscene dialogue, just in-world. I just need to git gud. It's a very minor complaint overall.

I couldn't get into Witcher 3 because I really dislike the combat. And yeah, I got stuck into a higher level quest on accident and just gave up. I'm sure it's a great game, but for me the combat system killed my fun so I went to the back log. And FFXI LOL.

I'll probably give Witcher 3 another run. I'm just having fun playing XI for now. It's my drug man. Even all these years later I can't shake it. Also, zero mods for Witcher 3 for me. Never looked them up.

The combat has such a steep learning curve but once you figure it out it becomes a breeze. Talents and abilities only make it even easier. I'm only lvl25 but I'm at the point where I can confidently kill anything regardless of its level, with the only thing holding me back is time it would take to kill it and my weapon durability. I actually enjoy the heck out of it now, with my problem being finding strong enough monsters when I'm not following a contract.

Witcher 3 combat is a bit challenging until you get your levels to the late teens but at that point if you selected powers properly you’ll be OP for anything matching your level. And even then if you are good at dodging you can take on higher level stuff but you’ll likely get killed in two hits if you fuck around.

Once you start using the slow traps and shit, it's so much fun. Those first goddamn ghost fights were a goddamn hilarious nightmare.

Yeahhh they're a bitch. Also health management is a pain until you learn how to dodge and spam food, or get the ability to make food last 20min lol.

Are these mods dev-sanctioned tool mods, or mods because "devs didn't secure their files so we're altering them" mods?

Because modding FFXI with new colors, music, and weapons is NOT the same thing as "making new maps, quests, and adventures".

Idk how much assistance CD project gave the community. Probably not much more than staying out of their way since I havent seen ingame mod support, only 3rd party with the most popular being found at nexus mods.
