Considering I've taken several jobs from 1-99 in a day via Aby, they must have seriously tweaked soloing.

I'm not inclined to say soloing EXP is superior to the old Abyssea burns, but you're generally going to be confronted with the reality that most people will have their desired jobs leveled and merited by now, while interest more in Abyssea proper is limited to Empyrean building due to power creep with ilvls. Thus, they're dead. Fortunately, soloing would be a lot more miserable without Trusts and GoV/FoV, but post-75 leveling can still feel pretty slow depending on job/available gear or where you choose to fight/willingness to jump zones after leveling some. I'd say my main issue with Trusts is that they're simply not good DD replacements, which puts them better off fighting Ts or lower. And when I think about a lot of the old-world 80+ camps they added in the past, most are pretty blah, imo.

I took Ranger from 83-91 in Meri [S] yesterday. Don't recall exactly how long but I stopped at chain 118. Was absurd how quick those birds would melt. Slug Shot > whatever GK Galka did > Totes II melts bird. Finished in Rala but couldn't keep a good chain, however I used level 30 daggers until 99 and whatever other gear I had. Was kind of fun tho!

Tried doing single mob Sinister Reign this morning. Could do Ingrid OK. Tried the Sinister Reign option. Wave 2 destroyed me but I'm only SU 1 on lolThf. I really need to just CP and get August that way.

They're roughly near the outpost, some a bit south near the spine. Just beware weapons if you go that far.

If the flies are named Dragonfly, then you are in the past.

The last couple of mules I got licenses for, I found it easier to get them from the wadi hares in Dangruf Wadi

IMO, it depends on what you're looking to do with it. If you're looking to get invites to things, yeah, you probably want to consider something else. Demand for any of those is limited.

For soloing, there are more rounded options (like BLU), but NIN BST and SCH could be effective for different things, and most anything can work through missions/etc to get started.

Considering the number of people that quit in the fifties because they lacked the patience to get to 75, yeah it was.

As with many XI "achievements" back in the day, way too much involved merely being in the right place at the right time with the right jobs. No doubt people did quit over the limit break quests, but given the complete lack of reward for helping strangers farm items or take out the Xarc NMs, there shouldn't be any surprise that some couldn't find help or drew the short straw of being in a group that disbanded before they got their item(s). As measures of personal skill, they failed, while someone with a nice (or bored) RDM/NIN could've had everything handed to them (as I know I did for strangers from time to time).

8 hours of papy farming was with a 75 pally mowing down lichs. I pity the poor saps that had to fight them in an alliance of 50's (which, yes, I saw shouts for).
