the game seems very lonely now, nobody i know still plays and 99% of the shouts on asura are selling content or jp bots so how do you even find a new group to play with

Same as this game has largely done since the start. Network. Social shells are a lot more prevalent now than they used to be, and with being able to equip two pearls, there's often a lot of overlap between a larger social shell, and event shells. It's especially the case on smaller servers. IE, the social shell I'm in on Leviathan tends to hit max members during busy times, even after having people unequip it from alts/etc. When there are only ~450 characters online, that LS chat reaches pretty far.

I'd assume Asura is similar, just more fragmented.

missions wise im needing to finish WOTG and seekers as its slowing me down with raps missions.

im not having an easy time finding an LS with people atm any tips ?

Goodluck my dude. I come back every so often during the Free-Weeks/Weekends and well, I usually just end up going into Monstrocity and level new things... unlocked Sandworm this time (Slug sucks). The game feels like its been going on so long that people have nothing to do but sell stuff. You can sit and listen to shouts for hours and see absolutely nothing but Merc Shouts. Exp parties are just sold now too. Last time I joined for a Free weekend, I stuck around for a month and played catch up a bit... got myself the SAM Aeonic (though I don't have the gear to make use of it really), and thats about it. There's plenty of gear to chase especially for someone who's been gone for 1+ Years.

You can still get stuff done just be prepared to be the one always starting a shout and praying you get good players (because, sadly, most of the good players are in those merc groups already or have everything they want). I'd find a Dynamis Divergence LS if you want anything related to that, though I honestly don't know where or how, I guess you could try yelling for one, I doubt they're very picky.

Man, I still love XI, but I can't see myself paying for it again.

We have a single job point merc shouter on Lakshmi (who managed to get the name jobpoints) and they are shouting 100% of the time so I infer that there aren't many buyers.

Yes, however with well over 3,500 players logged on at the moment against 1,000+ or certainly even less on other servers right now. Any server by a different name would smell so sweet.

It is a problem with Vana'diels folkways festering within the carcass of a community, and overall just a market opportunity. You wouldn't invest your efforts into building up Neckbeards, LLC on Carbuncle or Quetz over Asura just like you wouldn't start a new business in Kearney fucking Nebraska over the 5,000 other superior locations. The same goes for the never-ending posts around the web about Asura being "Toxic", "Full of trolls", or "nothing but Mercs", "etc". It isn't the server. Servers aren't fiefdoms ruled differently, but just a gaggle of free-for-alls.

Yes, that makes Carbuncle a place you haven't heard of in Nebraska.

monk JSE neck is +1 more then fine or save for the +2?

A good place to start for weapons is the JSE weapons from Oboro which when upgraded with just 300 items all tend to have a lot of accuracy, which you'll need to start getting your CP points. You can also work on Domain Invasion in escha zones (if your server has the bonuses you can get 100 points a day) for other JSE specific weapons (the 200 Points Weapons are upgradable with multiple paths) and augmentable gear like Valorous and Herculean which for some situations are still BIS.

XI just doesn't implement ilevel like most games would, as here it seems to pertain almost entirely on the virtual bump to level 119 from 99 via bulk defensive stats, pseudo skill, etc. This game has always had gear that was significantly better than other stuff - think of how long the Peacock Charm endured as a top option despite being low level, or the vast difference between something like a Cardinal Vest versus an Adaman Hauberk.

Anyway...

As mentioned earlier when you'd asked, a good zero-investment option would be Denouements from the One to Be Feared HTB. Cessance Earring also comes from that one, so it'd be doubly useful. The older HTBs like that can have 1 (D) or 2 (VD) guaranteed drop slots, so it'd be worth doing a little if you can get help on those difficulties. I wouldn't suggest soloing it on E or something as the drop rates are bad and the time would be better spent elsewhere.

The next good n' cheap option is probably Jolt Counter - the NQ tend to be something like 200-300k, but they are Su2 gear (need 100 JPs to use). While not as appealing for MNK per se, Su2 would also let you you grab Hepatizon Baghnakhs as another option, which are sub-100k on my server.

If you can get help, then just making the Kaja Knuckles would be good too. The main caveats are, of course, that you're still using Ambuscade points you could use for other things. Investment just scales a ton based on the group you can go with, if any. If you can do VD with seals, two runs will net you more than you need for a Kaja weapon and take maybe 15-20 minutes. If you're electing to solo low tier ones, it'll take...much longer.

On top of those options, there are some nice Unity H2H weapons that you can now augment. Does take farming up the base item, and doing the Odyssey RoE to unlock augmenting, and then getting the scales or hides. However, those materials can be bought, if you're willing to toss probably 15-20M at it rather than save for HMPs.

I honestly don't think WAR would matter much over MNK at this point for getting into content. If setting up a different job, you'd likely be better off with a support.

Most of the JSE necks fall into the category of the +1 being second only to the +2, so they're certainly fine. If you're going to want to get the +2 eventually though, then it may be worth saving for since you can't refund or transfer the RP over. IMO, if you'll be RP'ing it for free in Dynamis, then a +1 is good to start with - if/when you upgrade, it's only the base item cost you're losing (probably 5-10M).
If you're planning to upgrade it via Heroism Crystals off the AH though, you'll end up sinking a lot more gil into a +1, to the point that it may be worth just saving for a +2 to start with.

One To Be Feared isn't too hard, I was able to duo it with my brother (Trusts included) on Hard I believe. But I also had an Aegis PLD with decent gear, Omega still sucks as he did in the CoP version but yah, thats probably your best bet.

i picked up jolt counters and denouements , i think jolt are better , but does the +15 base dmg beat out 3% QA and the C Blow?

im having a hard time finding BiS gear sets for monk , i have been rerolling Herc feet for QA, i assume thats for WS?

Completing objectives in there earns cards. One of this month's campaigns is for those, roughly doubling the amount of cards you'll earn on average.

How does that queue system work for Omen anyhow? When I tried to dabble with it during my free time (despite probably not being geared enough to handle it), there was something like 470 ahead in queue. Is that raw players waiting, or do they buffer a number between folks/groups? I assumed as long as I remained within that crowded lobby it would just port me in when ready.

That 470 number is just your ticket number (as if you took a number and were waiting for it to be called). At least on Lakshmi the real delay from taking a ticket to entering is typically seconds.

Iirc three servers share a queue so the one with Asura might be slower.
