Did they change Levi fight after the fact? Because I was laughing at how terrible that entire encounter played out from a gameplay perspective, and then sudden subsequent story moment after the game tried so hard to make you care about Luna.

Just finished chapter 8 of my replay on pc so I’ll see for myself soon enough tomorrow. At the very least, they’ve added quite a few integral scenes to help streamline the story. Transitioning from scene to scene is nowhere near as jarring as it was before.

The biggest one I can recall from vanilla was you clearing the Steyliff Dungeon with Aranea and then getting a “A few hours later” black screen with you magically appearing inside at the demon infested power plant.

Now they actually show you riding back with Aranea to lestallum, seeing the power plant in trouble from up above, and then suiting up and going in. Gladio leaving and rejoining the party felt much more natural.

There’s quite a few other scenes that they seem to have added that add a nice touch to the overall flow. They’ve also a data-log to keep track of all the notes and lore you’ve found throughout the game.

Overall I’m very happy so far with what they’ve done with Royal Edition. The real review will come to see with what they did Chapter 13 and onward. By the way this game is fucking gorgeous on Pc. Got a grass and reshade mod lol.

Is SSNoctis vs SSArdyn still the final fight (and a terrible one at that)? Or does it finish with the two duking it out on the street?

They retooled it a bit, SSJ Armiger Mode. It plays a lot more closely to AU now. The battle before it is also a lot more satisfying to play at least personally now that I know airdance is a thing lol.

Super weird though that they edited out the scene where it shows Noctis temporarily gaining power from all 13 Royal arms. O_o. Before it used to show almost all the locations, now it shows like one or two lol. Such a weird decision.

EDIT: if I haven’t mentioned it yet, let me reiterate it. Arden’s VA fucking steals the show every scene he’s in. Dude is absolutely amazing.

Darin Depaul is a national treasure. The only sad part is that he only got into VA later in life.

Just finished my replay of the pc version.

Jesus Christ Ardyn is such a magnificent villain. Fucking loved this play through. This is what this game should’ve been on release. The story is so much more understandable now. They legit explain Ardyn’s motives and make it as tragic as it should’ve been. They fixed the SSJ Armiger fights so that they’re actually fun now. The battle-system is a hell of a lot deeper with character swapping because they all specialize against certain enemies. The Rulers of Yore fights are so god damn epic! “NO MERCY!” Chapter 13 still sucks ass and is way too long, but at least they buffed the shit outta the ring lol.

God I fucking love this game. What Tabata did with the incomplete garbage Nomura left behind is nothing short of a miracle. My personal favorite final fantasy. When that stand by me song hits at the end I fucking lose it.

Having not bought any DLC and finishing the game on PS4's original release version, I have a few questions.

How much would it cost to "Royal Edition" my current copy and how does this effect the Episodes (Glad/Ignis/Prompto/etc.) I don't yet have?

If I New Game plus after that, would I be able to see the game with all of the new changes/additions or would I have to start from scratch?
