literally not the same if you actually watch the video and context. I'd make a joke about next thing we should do is arrest him but it seems Scotland is already making headway in arresting the jokes so hey, its not even fantasy anymore. Also kinda real hard straw-man to make it seem like an entertainer on his entertainment platform making a possibly offensive joke (Which PS has appeared on TV and movies over the last decades) is the same as your scenario.
Giving the slant eyes is a dick move. You're an adult, making big boy cash. Act like it when you're in public, and yeah, twitch is pretty fucking public.
The kid, who is under contract for a big boy company, fucked up in public and got punished for it. I see 0 problem. He's literally wearing the colors of his company. Whether he wants to believe it or not -whether the thought has ever crossed his mind - he's an ambassador for his employer.
I mentioned this last time someone was punished for something like this, it was I believe xQc. Being punished cause you broke the rules is okay with me, especially under a contract you signed, its up to you to adhere by the rules you put yourself under. I have no problem with that, thats common sense. What I do have a problem with is the rules allowing for such a thing. Not >all< rules in case you're going to be dense and build another strawman, but specifically the vague, open to interpretation, context-removed "offensive' rules.
Look, Its not that I don't get why they have to do it, its to save face and act like a professional organization who wants to be taken seriouisly, I understand, and considering all their personalities are teens-20's in their first major job that isn't an entertainer on a platform, there's a lot of bumps that need to be ironed out with strict, clear messages of what is and isn't acceptable. Got it.
They can absolutely be legitimate cases of someone being an open, hateful racist, and while I don't think that should be a crime*, It has no place in a professional environment and should be axed immediately. The cases the OWL has been hunting down aren't cases of racism, they're tumblr level "offenses", context of joke or not removed, context of persona or not removed, most if not all of these offenses in the OWL have taken place because of something on stream, and I'd argue while on stream these "Kids" as you call them are not much different than any other actor putting on a persona, and laws haven't caught up with that kind of technology, as usual. I could very well be wrong but its human nature to have these personas and they are entertainers, so chances are most if not all of them "put on a face" when streaming.
Does this change his punishment? Nah, just giving some context to my objection so hopefully you understand it better instead of assuming everyone who disagrees with thought policing is a racist black hating HOOT HOOTER when no police are around. I’m pretty sure I’m not anyway. In fact we agree on our views of racists when they meet our quota for such, out quotas and context for someone actually being racist or offensive is just different.
Anyway thats an argument I think might be too what-iffy and conjecture, and its truly just my opinion on Twitch and Twitch entertainers, I can understand even jokes can make a company look bad, especially one in such early development and needed to succeed and appear professional, so again, Its just the specific rule I don't like, not the organization.

To an extent, to specify on this. It isn't... well yet... a crime to express hate of a specific race or religion, nor should it be. However if you're posting this publicly you must follow the rules of that platform and any actions should be accordingly. However the line I would draw between just being an asshole and crime, would be inciting or instigating others to violence against those people, and I mean clearly and specifically. Hopefully this clarifies the statement above. I don't like these people, but they should be protected under free speech as anyone else. At the end of the day I won't defend these types of assholes, my argument is more toward removing context from jokes and pretending they're just as bad as stormfront
Edit: as a final thought, you’re little monkey noise scenario? I would never advocate it being illegal. Being an asshole, even a loud racist asshole, shouldn’t be illegal, stopping with words as in the spoiler of course.
So while our definition or what is racist may change, I say we both agree people who meet our criteria are detestable pieces of shit, I just view this as the price we pay for some of our freedoms, not as an excuse to ask them to be taken away.
(Shit final final addendum, these after topics don’t have to do with the OWL punishment but your hypothetical real life scenario which is why I’m applying laws to the context and not contractual obligations. Hope that cleared up!)
