Hell, even if was 20-50 bucks a box, I would have bought a few as that's when I got into the game. Very end of Beta, beginning of 3rd Edition/Revised. But a thousand bucks for a fraction of the set, fuck that.

Fuck that, spend ~$150 and get ~600 proxies made of your choice instead.
An interesting situation came up with this set as well:

I don't really know much about the rights to the old art, but I remember it being talked about in the past as something they couldn't (wouldn't?) do.
Proxies? You can buy 99% accurate fakes now, including foils, for $2-4 each from that Korean dude. The foils are even more passing than non-foils. 0% chance anyone can tell a difference in a sleeve. Only a very tight judge check at a high-end event will ever catch them.
For those unaware, a LotR set just came out and it included a 1/1 One Ring card that could only be found in Collector Packs. Just prior to release, the highest public bounty for it was 2 million Euros.
Even XQC joined the hunt for it:

This morning, it was announced that the Ring had been found (seemingly confirmed by WotC) and already graded by PSA.
From the very few details that have surfaced, it was found in Canada by a random person back around the 16th.
Since the announcement this morning, the price of Collector Booster boxes have plummeted from just under $500 to around $350 now.
I'm curious what cash grabs WotC will attempt next.
If only it had been pack crimped.
I'd say I hope it curls, but that shit is going in a screw down case.
huh I find this collab odd since Marvel Snap is popping off. I do have marvel fatigue but if they have some baller X-men cards I'll cave in a second, especially if they get legit comic artists like Pepe Larraz
They've been doing a great job with the Universes Beyond stuff when it comes to art and card mechanics. I would be surprised if they didn't get at least a few comic artists. Final Fantasy is already locked in for next year, I think.
To make sure the fanboys have money set aside
my 6yo kiddo has gotten into Pokemon cards which is making me want to get back into magic, been on arena for a little bit and it's scratching that itch to some extent. We're in a really small town and our LGS is really geared toward a younger crowd than myself (40s), gotta convince some of my local buddies to jump back in too.
I don’t even know what EDH is??
Elder Dragon Highlander, aka Commander.
You have a Legendary Creature, that you can cast at any time (though it gets (2) more expensive each time you cast it).
A deck of 100 cards, but you can only have one copy of any card.
And you can't have cards of any color that don't match your commander.
And you start at 40 life.
And if you take 21 total points of damage from the same commander over the game, you lose.
There's also a variant called Brawl, with a 60 card deck, 25 life, and no 21 damage rule.
Previews for Murders at Karlov Manor started today.
Mechanically, this set is fuckin' wild.
space lands are out on arena today.
