Remember this lol?
I don’t (trust him), no. I don’t. In my opinion, I would never take the risk of headlining a show with Jon Jones again. I’d put him on the card, but I wouldn’t headline with him until he consistently gets back on track. Millions of dollars are spent on this. For a card to fall apart, and how many cards have fallen apart because Jon Jones gets in trouble for something? So no, I’m not at that place with him.
Are you implying Dana lied? I can't imagine
Have I mentioned lately that Dana is purposely killing the UFC?
it is known
To add to the party of Jones and the UFC fucking over all the fans who were going to attend, all the fighters on the card will likely be losing around 10% of their purses because of Cali taxes.
Novitzki will be on joe rogan's podcast this thursday
Current explanations aren't very convincing. Hope jeff doesn't just sit on "how small a picogram is" in defense of jones. And tbh I'm even not so keen on the "our testing is so great now that we're able to capture trace trace trace amounts from your accidental exposure to a few molecules years ago" defense either
There's been a main event pullout......
Spoiler: show
So from the jeff podcast it seems the only thing jones could be guilty of with relation to the failed tests is him ingesting oral turinabol YEARS before now because even 15 months ago jones had only the long term metabolite present which are the same kind of metabolite he's been busted for this last time as well. Both times basically equivalent amounts
Experts are convinced (have not heard reason why) that it was ingested accidentally sometime before the initial july 2017 failure
About 25min and I'm sort of convinced (except for why the experts jeff quotes are convinced it was accidental ingestion) that jones is guilty of only having a wild lifestyle
Edit: also jones is the only ufc fighter to ever experience this, but supposedly there are other athletes under usada that have experienced similar results
You're really gonna take Novitsky at his word huh?
Edit:
I'm taking him at his word for the facts presented from the studies he's quoting. I'm believing him that he's not just making it up
And taking him at his word that USADA has experienced this in other athletes (and are convinced it's a similar issue)
The one thing that's lacking for me is why experts were convinced it was an accidental ingestion from the failed test 15 months ago.
I dunno what else I could reasonably believe. The long term metabolite they detected in last year's july testing (first fail) is specifically the long term metabolite that's different than the short/mid term metabolites that have never been found in jones (not to say they couldn't have been there... would liked jeff to go through all of the dates of jones tests but they got sidetracked - and I'm hopeful that if experts deemed this OK that they have tests weeks apart and are sure the short/mid - which only last ~week - would have been caught during any training camp).
I think the suspicion I have is pretty big, in any case, because the stuff jeff is quoting on the single documented experiment of oral turinabol and other experiments of similar chlorinated steroids has tiny pg levels of the long term metabolite... like jones. So I just need to hear why the experts are convinced that it was accidental, and he wasn't roiding with oral turinabol years ago (cut to sonnen's story of jon spending an entire day under an octagon cage to avoid USADA testing)
Assume that the scum who's popped on 3 drug tests in 4 fights is cheating again? And that the UFC is as equally scummy because they've shown time and again they'll do anything possible to make a buck? Including repeatedly lying to the public to frame a story how they want, or how we've seen multiple other fighters in similar situations get suspended, but they go out of their way to still let Jones fight.
Jones and the UFC don't for a second get the benefit of the doubt here, or really in any situation.
you know the old Tennessean saying Kran, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, you can't get fooled again, fool me thrice, i mean, come on, we can't have dames headlining a NYE card, fool me fource, let's at least give them the benefit of the doubt
I'm kind of big on benefit of the doubt, innocent until proven guilty... stuff like that
The science is pretty clear (so long as jeff isn't making things up since I'm not hunting down all these studies he's quoting to make sure they exist, I suppose) on the "pulsing effect" of chlorinated steroids and the tests that jones has failed all only show the longterm metabolite. Several experts (independent of USADA even) have entered into evidence assurances that they're sure this is possible and are sure he hasn't ingested oral turinabol after last year's july test
By the way, frank mir got popped for the same thing, and got two years, while jon only 15 months. And that's because jon gave "additional assistance" for some other illegal stuff - no additional info on that - and put on a defense in arbitration, frank never did that. But nobody in the ufc has gotten positive tests on the same metabolite multiple times, have they?
edit: I still don't like jones and believe he's used steroids in the past (which is why he's failing now) but the failed tests just don't point to him cheating since at least between july and now.
Just catching cliffnotes of what was said on JRE. Apparently they started noticing weird picogram levels in August from Jones.
Coincidentally, the UFC/USADA in late September decided they’re changing their policy in announcing drug failures only after a thorough investigation. LOL!
So Jones was already coming back hot before they even announced the fight.
And Dana had insisted previously that all his tests up to this "failed" one were clean.
Every professional athlete on the planet is on steroids.
Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.
Sure, but most organizations have the common decency to just hide it (NBA for example, I don't believe for a second that guys like LeBron or Giannis aren't on something) then have this kind of nonsense play out in the public eye.
Yeah, the UFC really went a stupid route when they started to proclaim themselves more clean than other sports. All the biggest sports in the world barely do drug testing. Premier league, NBA, NFL, MBA, NHL, etc. Shit, in the NFL when you get caught the first couple of times you're placed in a special drug program to deter you from using in the future. There's no repercussions other than fines. The guys that get suspensions are the ones that are already in the program.
My issue is the blatant bias towards certain fighters. Guys like Tom Lawlor get slapped with a two year suspension while Jones gets an all hands on deck of mental gymnastic coaches on how to spin it.
