He didn't think there was space there. He was expecting space to be there. PS3 was prepping for turn 1, and if Lando had stayed in position a bit longer, it would have opened. Absolutely a stupid move on his part though.

Yeah, he expected Oscar to move over sooner but Oscar also knew that and held position a moment longer. Lando was thinking too far ahead and thought he'd "cheat" the movement and just wait for the opening that always shows up (but only shows up cause normally the car behind moves over to the side first).

The implications are worse than the crash imo. Totally racing incident imo

Definitely an error on Lando’s part and agree it was just a racing incident. It’s the fastest part of the track at 200mph so any bit of miscalculation can have that kind of result. He took it in the chin and hopefully can move on and keep battling for the title, they have both been racing very clean races and something like this was bound to happen.

If anything, this is the best race so far for a dnf for him, since they were not fighting for 25 points, but a mistake nonetheless.

The front wasn't very interesting after the first 15 laps but the rest of the pack was REALLY fun to watch. Rookies (besides Kimi lol) had some great races.
