Former F1 racers fared quite well today in Detroit.

Marcus Ericsson won the IndyCar Race #1 after a late red flag from a Grosjean crash and mechanical misfortune for Will Power while restarting the cars as his ECU melted while the cars were coming back into the pits. Being in the lead, Power was the first to stop but couldn't get cooling to the car fast enough.

K Mag gets his first IMSA win on the same course.

Pirelli trying to pass it off as teams changing running parameters once on the track, compared to what they're telling pirelli before hand. Idk why there isn't a large enough margin to prevent a complete failure though.

Yeah, but they were complaining allll practice. I thought he might be playing head games on the radio to fuck with red bull, but max has real good place following the second pit.

I thought Mercedes had this in the bag, but Max and Perez are working really fucking well today. Ham waited too long, and Perez let Max through so easily. Now Mercedes can't beat Red Bull without beating Perez too.

Honestly, while watching highlights in hindsight, checo and red bull at large pulled an amazing race. Checo kept just enough pace to not destroy his tires but also to leave enough of a gap with the rest of the field that they were wholely irrelevant. He was the reason Mercedes was trapped like they were, strategy wise. There was an opportunity for like 1 lap for Mercedes to react following verstappens second stop, but checo kicked ass and closed that up real quick. Just all around what a well played race.

Not the most exciting while watching, but taking it in as a whole and wewww boy Mercedes got caught sleeping.

Checo still remains the best at managing tires imo than anyone else.

Perez stayed in clean air for most of the race instead of chasing Bottas and hitching to the Merc gearbox for 10-15 laps. Dirty air increases tyre deg so much.

Abu Dhabi layout getting some changes. Not sure how much a difference the tweaked corners in the final sector will make, but the other two big changes seem like a good idea.
