Damnit Valtteri, I wish he didn't slow up there.
I don't want a race like this every week, but I enjoyed it.

"Valterri it's James. Please abort the lap" had me fucking rollingggg
Race was a lot less interesting than I thought it'd be. Was more fun watching Perez try to climb back from 20th, and boy did he put on a good show of it. Grats to max winning in both his home countries. Grats to lewis for taking back fastest lap at the last second even after Bottas tried aborting.

Still can't believe Bottas is third and getting traded.
Eh, he's barely 3rd against Lando of all people, and Perez is still learning his car. He wasnt terrible but I don't think he deserves the drive ahead of anyone else tbh. He was a great teammate, but with Hamilton in his twilight years they need a new number 1 in the wings and I don't think bottas is it.

Oh is that why he couldn't make it out of Q1 in the best car on the grid? Halfway thru a season for a veteran driver this isn't a valid excuse.
Bottas absolutely deserves better then this, but since for the most part F1 media = British media, the possibility of another Brit being in the Mercedes seat with Lewis was always going to be willed into existence.
Just a week or two ago Lewis said he would prefer having Bottas in the second seat. He's a driver who's absolutely been capable of taking a WDC (granted this was a period where the Merc was far and away the best car, but still) but was mostly willing to concede to his position as Ham's wingman. That's an exceedingly rare find. Just look at the never ending hunt RB has been going thru to find a second seat alongside Verstappen
Perez got fucked by the holdup right before the checkered flag, I'd blame that on the team not just the driver. He was 8th on his out lap, and made it to the line like 1 or 2 seconds too late.
I never said Bottas doesn't deserve a fast car, but so do a lot of other drivers including George. Bottas had 5 years to make his case, and he's plenty fast but I see no reason to hold his seat over Russell, just absolutely zero reason. This is amplified with the new cars coming next year and Mercedes likely wanting their future lead driver to get as much time with the new rules and cars as possible, along with Hamilton sunsetting sometime in the next few years likely. I don't see Bottas becoming the next lead driver when race after race against this red bull he has not been competitive versus Max, let alone Hamilton, in the least.
He is def a great wingman and number 2, but they don't need two of those and I don't see them leaning on Bottas to become the next number 1. Might as well roll the dice on Mr. Saturday

Albon to Williams confirmed.
What the fuck
They really believe in Albon that much? Dude was not impressive on red bull, and Mercedes has so many of their own drivers that I don't understand why they'd go this route. Whatever, it's Williams, maybe they'll be competitive next year and Albon will race well, but I ain't holding my breath.

Albon will fill the void Russell had in terms of Williams' car development. Horner has praised Albon's work in the simulator this year developing car setups. It's a good fit.
And Albon was fine for a while until Hamilton came out with the steel chair in Interlagos and Austria sending Albon to the Shadow Realm.
Good for him, etc, but I was really hoping to see Nick de Vries come to F1. He's even Dutch!

For anyone interested.
Mazespin also hinting that he might be moving to Alfa, for as much as a mazepin rumor is worth. Thank god if he does too, I'd love to get him off the "American" team. I also want the American team to be competitive lol.

There's also chatter about Guanyu Zhou getting the Alfa seat with some deep pockets (rumor is $30M USD) and Chinese sponsorships. Though this rumor is kinda muddled considering Zhou is still in the Alpine program.
I'm interested in finding out if Guenther Steiner is bringing in Netflix money or something cause Haas ain't performing, but Haas is also one of the more popular teams just on personality alone imo lol

Netflix wants drama for the show and the general incompetence and poor financials of Haas make for "quality" drama
I would say that Haas got fucked by the delay of new regs and Ferrari's engines. But doesn't excuse them for putting a pair of shitboxes on track for 3 full seasons. Williams at least is showing flashes for competitiveness on the rear end of the midfield. Haas is just sitting 19-20 all season long.
