Fuck right off, Verstappen penalized???
Fuck right off, Verstappen penalized???
To be honest these sausage kerbs can fuck right off
As much as the penalty sucks, just means Max is taking the PU penalty in Russia.
Only just watched, what a fucking race! I said if Bottas got podium, I'll never call him Buttass again.
He's had to work hard to avoid them in the past. Dude was probably like "please don't look my direction" when they were on the podium today.

I wish I didn't have plans for the weekend of Sept 25-26th. I would have gone to the Long Beach GP weekend to watch the IndyCar finale, IMSA, and all the other events.
I keep hearing Max fans complain about the position loss. It's near equivalent to a 10 second time penalty (which has the chance to put you more places behind). In fact if Max's car had been drivable and only Lewis crashed, he would've gotten a 10 sec penalty. He certainly did it with purpose and intent, and I think they should have been harsher. I'd have given him 4 points not 2.
And here I thought cars needed to he given space in a turn. Guess if it's against Hamilton though you can be squeezed off track and no one cares

Pretty much, i’m still pretty amazed that many people are calling this a racing incident (including me) and not faulting either driver, yet hamilton closed him off and did not back off, max had no room, eats physics and gravity, and gets penalized. If the championship is won by hamilton this year, we can thank the stewards sucking off toto. Silverstone bullshit and a second banana getting penalized in the next race for fucking up the rbr twice. Barely any penalty for the multi-year winning team tho. Elbows out, this is the racing i’ve been waiting to see, yet dumbass stewards are making dumb calls.
I am salty about it because i want to see the kings finally get dethroned, but it really is starting to seem to skew the way of the kings.
Does Max know this?
Cause just this season alone we've seen multiple races where Hamilton was having to bail out of a turn in the first lap because Verstappen wasn't giving him space to finish it. The two times Hamilton hasn't backed off of Max's aggressive cornering have both led to crashes.
And in this instance this one was 100% on Verstappen. He should have known he wasn't making that line and bailed, but instead he just barreled right in.
Cars need to be given space, but he had the right to the racing line and that corner is NOT big enough to that much room. Max is always doing that shit squeezing people off. He was too reckless this time. It was 100% on him. This was exactly like Copse except he tried to take it when he knew he for a fact wouldn't make it unless Lewis backed down. Lewis could have left him some more room, sure. But the fault and intent was 100% Verstappen. Heck, he did it at the start of the race and got away with it.
It's ok when Max does it. Duh. If it had been just like Copse, he wouldv have gotten no points. The intent was clear as fuck. He was big mad about that pit. A part of me wonders if he knew the crash was going to happen and he gunned for it. "If this works, I pass, if it doesn't, we're both out." The level of callousness was extreme too. He was basically "oh well" about it. Didn't even check on a fellow sportsman.
Fellow sportsman was trying to back out his car while max was still trying to dismount, he knew he was fine the whole time.

You're right, the correct action is to say "that's what happens when you don't leave space" and walk off smugly. I definitely couldn't be a racecar driver. I'd probably die in an explosion trying to pull an opponent out of their car if I knew I caused the crash.
No lie, Hamilton was DOA there if it wasn't for the halo. Idk how he doesn't have injuries period cause that wheel did smack his helmet, but I suppose the halo is high enough to keep the weight from pushing his head too far down in an unnatural position.
At the end of the day it's whatever cause rbr will just take that new engine in Sochi making this penalty nbd, but on the face it sucks cause everyone is leaning one way or the other on who's fault it was, but also I don't think anyone wanted penalties, just a racing incident. I fully expect another crash in Sochi if they don't have a heart to heart with them both though, or at the least confirm what the fuck being "substantially along side" another driver means.

For all the crying F1 fans about when anything remotely reminds them of something related to American racing, I hope they're enjoying Days of Thunder. From Silverstone to this, I'm over these guys, which made that podium all the better. At this point, I think I'm just rooting for Alonso, Seb, and Bottas while not caring about the championships.
I'm enjoying the championship battle, but the last half dozen or so races have been real disappointing on that front just cause they keep knocking each other out, or have a tire blowout lol.

Spent too much time listening and reading F1 news since the race and have come away with the conclusion that yeah, maybe max was slightly more to blame than lewis, but also that it should have just been a racing incident.
But also the point still stands that the penalty is moot cause rbr is taking the penalty for an engine change, so whatevs lol
Also, in regards to max not checking on Hamilton after the crash, even the fia medical crew didn't come out to help Hamilton cause they saw he was fine and even trying to rescue his car by reversing. If anything, him continuing to try and reverse after the crash was the unsafe thing to do, especially with max climbing down from the lifted rbr car, and then walking down the track behind him.
