Eh, it really depends on the circumstances. In this one in particular, after going back to it, max carried too much speed going into the turn, even though he's pulled similar maneuvers before just without Mercedes next to him.
Also who could have known Mercedes was going to leave the pit (after a small delay) just as max was coming up to the chicane (the lap immediately after his 11second pit stop). The stars aligned, and max refused to give up his position at the same time that lewis was not required to pull out of his turn. Shit sucks, bends slightly towards max, also won't care in a week for the next race lol.

Of course it depends on the circumstances. It always depends on the circumstances. When you're racing beside someone, if your wheel is at least to the midpoint of their car, they have to leave you room around a corner, but we're looking at a double corner here, a very short chicane. Coming into the first corner of the chicane, Hamilton left him the room on the outside (though he shouldn't have since Verstappen was NOT halfway into the length of his car when the turn started). Verstappen shouldn't be a fucking amateur though, he knows he is behind and while room has been left on the first corner, Lewis has the right to control the racing line at the second turn of the chicane. There's no way he didn't know this. Basic as fuck F2, 3 and W racers know this. But Verstappen's thing has always been to push and play chicken. There were only two possible outcomes, Lewis chickens out or the crash. He KNEW this. Playing chicken is not racing. None of the best passers play chicken, not Alonso, not Riccardo, not Perez. He plays chicken and if the other person doesn't back down it causes a crash. There's a fucking reason he was known as Crashtappen for ages. Hamilton leaving the pit when he did and Verstappen's pit taking as long as it did does not factor into the equation. It's not a bends slightly, it is fully on Verstappen. It is absolutely silly of him to expect people to give him what he refuses to give others.

There's a common denominator the last few years with the rise in squeezes on turns, and it's not just a Max thing.
Spoiler: it's a Red Bull thing
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Verstappen has been bad for the sport. The shit he gets away with now would've gotten him a couple of race bans already if it were 10 years ago.
The talk around this crash is definitely different than previous ones this season, and I wonder if that's going to translate into sterner penalities for similar accidents, or if Max is actually gonna grow as a driver and change a little.
He's gotta climb back from p20 for Sochi, so I guess we'll find out soon lol

Max and Lewis were just unleashing their “inner Senna”, go for the gap people.
Yall talk like if Max is the only person in the sport that is a terrible driver and Lewis is a fucking angel. Lol i do agree Max needs to grow still, but Lewis is a salty crybaby, i enjoyed Lewis’s first 2 years in hybrid era merc winning the title, but when Rosberg started showing killer instinct, i lost respect for Lewis and always wanted to see him fall from that throne. Best example was Abu Dhabi 2016 when he was purposefully going slow while leading the race because he knew he lost the title unless Nico got 3rd in the race after either Max or Vettel passed him. Not to mention punting and demoralizing Albon out of podiums twice in both Austria and Brazil. Lewis talks so much about “enjoying competition” yet starts crying because he’s not easily clinching the title. I’m expecting this is how the season will be the entire way through.
For the record, i don’t undermine Lewis’s skill at all as i’ve mentioned this a few times and had a lot of insane drives, but the guy gets lucky so many fucking times, it is pretty mind blowing.
I'm disappointed I haven't seen any "Red Bull gives you wingssss" memes from Max's crash lol

Don't be insipid. We get it, you don't like Hamilton. However, the conversation is about was about Max because Max caused this shit. Max should have matured some, but that is not the situation we're seeing. Lewis showed growth by this point in his career. Lewis was different from and showed growth from his time at McLaren to the Rosberg v Hamilton era. Lewis was once again grew immediately post Nico with Lauda's help. As for Albon, he was NEVER a thing to worry about you make it sound like it was done on purpose.
I would just like to say that I really like the Mercedes hats with the print along the trim.

Indy Car =/= F1 Car
Yep don't equate the two. The circumstances aligned here that race control let this be.
1) no blue flags in IndyCar. Jimmy Johnson was 1 lap down. It's up to the person lapping to pass. Most of the time the lapped cars will yield. But.....
2) 2nd place was the current points leader Palou. JJ, Palou's teammate, was instructed to make it as hard as possible for Grosjean to pass (in 3rd, fresher tyres)
3) because of these two things, and the fact that IndyCars are a lot sturdier than F1, some contact is part of racing.
