quality shitpost, moving on
I respect what some people do to obtain the highest quality possible for retro gaming. Sho and others in the SNES Classic thread had some sick builds that I would love to have my hands on someday.
I’m just too lazy when it comes to that kind of stuff and wouldn’t fully appreciate it anyways lol.

There, I fixed it.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of your feedback, patience and support so far.
We have been working on addressing the issues that you’ve raised, and will be releasing a number of patches over the coming months as we continue to support CHRONO TRIGGER on Steam.
We’re aiming to release the first of these patches in the first half of April, and the biggest change is that it will include an option to switch between the current high-resolution graphics, and the original graphical style of CHRONO TRIGGER.
We’ll post a full list of changes here when the first patch is released. For now, be assured that we’re working very hard on adjusting, updating and supporting CHRONO TRIGGER on Steam.
As CHRONO TRIGGER is going to receive patches over the coming months, we are going to extend the availability of the Limited Edition until:
5PM, April 30th BST / 9AM, April 30th PDT
Thanks again from all of us on the CHRONO TRIGGER team.
Please Understand.
So their answer on how to fix their terribad high definition port is to downgrade its graphics.
Science!
Edit: Actually, I wish they had slipped up and posted this on Sunday. Would have been great for the lulz.
A 23 year old game is receiving patches in 2018.
Press ReleaseSquare Enix today announced that following fan feedback, Chrono Trigger for Steam has received the first of a number of planned patches to enhance the game’s presentation and features. Today’s patch includes:
• Original Graphics: A new option will allow players to choose between the current high-resolution character sprites and background graphics, or a new ‘Original’ mode which is more in-line with the original style of Chrono Trigger.
• Updated Font and Dialogue Boxes: Fonts and dialogue window graphics are updated to give the game a more classic look and feel.
• New Start-Up: The order of the animated opening sequences when starting a new game are reworked to be more in line with previous versions of the game.
• Additional enhancements and fixes to the text and graphics within the game to enhance the PC play experience.
Further changes will be made to Chrono Trigger in later updates, which will include additional UI changes to optimise gameplay for PC users playing with either a gamepad or keyboard and mouse, improved resolution in animated cut-scenes and more.
Alongside these changes, Chrono Trigger’s Limited Edition will also be available for an extended period. This Limited Edition includes PC wallpapers, a medley of the game’s music and digital liner notes by composer Yasunori Mitsuda, and will now be available until 30th April 2018.
If they are willing to put in the effort to fix it, then why didn't they just get it right the first time? CT is not a new game, it's been around the block a few times and there is no excuse for fucking it up. It would start reflecting on them a lot better as a company if their releases would actually be complete and polished when they released them, and not twenty patches afterward like the current trend.
And it works. Every fucking time.
Nah, it was just a low effort port job and now they're trying to save face due to the backlasch. They surely didn't go back and fix the awful PC ports of the XIII trilogy or other FF games, thankfully CT fans are louder.
Can they go back and do the same thing for FF5 and FF6 now?
And Nier since that game ran like shit without community patches. Pretty sure it never got an update.. lol
Only when it released on Steam. The first release is still shitty.
