Publishers already have their bs "Season pass up-front + other shit included" releases that add +$30-40 to the game. Most recent trend being paying extra to play the game three days early.

The problem is I doubt any game for years to come will be on the dev budget level of GTA6 to warrant trying to chew your wallet a little harder to warrant an upfront +$10 on the core game.

No multiplayer at launch and will probably be a separate cost and it won’t surprise me if they later release an online only version that doesn’t include the base game, like they did with GTAV

Unlike GTA5 though, I'm expecting half of the overall map to be untraversable in single-player, just so they have room for future expanding with GTAO2.

Which was probably why they had a fair bit of the Mexico area modeled out in RDR2, but its online fell flat on its face as far as people buying currency went, so they probably abandoned any plans for that to focus more on GTAO1

It was crazy but it hadn't been 13 years since the last game.

Modern AAA dev times have gotten ridiculous. GTA 2 and GTA 5 release dates are about as far apart as GTA 5 and GTA 6.

Grand Theft Auto V, and Red Dead Redemption 2, were also a lot more popular than any previous Rockstar game. like GTA IV and RDR 1 both sold about 25 million copies, whereas GTA V sold 230 million and RDR 2 85 million. it's not a 1 to 1 because GTA V sold multiple copies to repeat customers over the generations, but even so exponentially more people played V than IV, probably more than IV, III, San Andreas, and Vice City combined.

GTA VI very likely the most anticipated game of all time, nothing like it.
