J.J. Abrams-Directed Episode of Mandalorian Reveals Wait No His Name Actually Is Baby Yoda
The J.J. Abrams helmed season finale of The Mandaorian has revealed that the name of the adorable creature that viewers are fixated on isn’t Grogu at all, but actually Baby Yoda.
“I was so excited to bring my trademark blend of empty storytelling and dumb ass twists back to the Star Wars universe,” said Abrams. “Some have said revealing Baby Yoda’s name to be Baby Yoda was a slap in the face to how they literally gave him a different name a few episodes ago, but I think I have delivered what fans truly want — a nice snappy name for the character!”
Continuing with a trend that began with last year’s Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, Lucasfilm walked back the initial Grogu reveal of a few weeks ago after mixed reactions and landed back on the fan favorite name of Baby Yoda as the true given moniker of the series’ breakout inanimate star.
“It was not an easy choice to make,” said Lucasfilm CEO Katheen Kennedy over a Zoom call with reporters. “But at Lucasfilm we owe it to the fans to always sacrifice artistic integrity for whatever makes us more money and just generally make bonehead decisions about the future of this giant messy franchise.”
Rian Johnson, director of Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, spoke of his similar experiences after working on an installment of the franchise.
“They undid everything from my movie, they reneged on my three picture deal, and sent some guy dressed as Mickey Mouse to come to my house and spit in my face,” he said. “My phone rang at that very moment and the voice on the other end said ‘That never happened either,’ and then hung up. I make my pictures with Lionsgate now. ”
As of press time, mixed reactions to the Abrams directed episode has caused Disney to cancel the 10 upcoming Star Wars television series they’d recently announced.
This gave me a hearty chuckle.

God fucking this so good!
Only thing I would have liked more is to roll into the star wars theme at the end.
I know this isn’t sw film proper but that ending had 100% the feel of how a Star Wars movie should end I think I would have peed my pants if they did it.
Between this and the Rogue One Vader scene, I am ready for Disney to announce Star Wars: Hallways
It's finally fucking happening! Been waiting decades for a good Star Wars series, and while it had it's off-moments, this is how you fucking continue the lore.
Also had some big Cylon vibes there too, with the Dark Troopers.
I’m so glad..

There was a rumor floating around a while back that the Disney execs were not thrilled with how the sequel trilogy performed and they were looking into methods to somehow alter/erase the trilogy, so it could be possible. If the Ahsoka series does pull this off then they would have a clean slate to develop a new trilogy or series that would take place during the same timeline.
Also with Mando S3 starting Nov 2021 and the two spin-offs starting the following month, I have a feeling that they will go the route if CWs Arrowverse where they will have crossovers between characters or plots that are loosely woven between each series.
I'm all for erasing the sequel trilogy from canon, but does it really mean we need a new trilogy in its place? We're seeing such great and fleshed out characters now. They're respecting the lore and giving disrespected characters a second chance. Even the filler is entertaining.
Of course, Disney wants money so I'm 99% sure they're working on a new trilogy as we speak. But yeah I'm fine with more D+ series.

I don't know why everyone thinks what Luke did in the sequels is so "uncharacteristic" seems to be the older Jedi's way to go into self exile.

Y’all really gotta stop hoping for the sequel trilogy to be erased, it’s not gonna happen and you just make yourselves sound like desperate fanboys. This coming from a fanboy. They happened. They weren’t great (or good, at times) but you gotta accept it and move on.
No way in hell the sequels are going to be erased.
And as far as I am aware, there are only two movies currently planned, neither of which have anything to do with each other
