Is there an immunity to heavy winds spirit? Those stages are the ultimate cheese even with a heavy resist because once you're off stage its over.

REALLY not liking Toon Link's changed FSmash...that 2 hitter was a huge mix up and combo'ed so well with the return of the boomerang. I have also been abusing Marth's tipper in fights with Metal Face but just unlocked TL yesterday afternoon (finally).

Also, what are some good 3* or promote-able green/blue primary spirits. All I ever seem to get for promotions are red ones (Metal Face, Zero, Lord Lyn, etc).

There's a few Heavy Wind Immunity Spirits, "Latias and Latios" and "Medli" are two I know of off the top of my head.

Chun Li (green) is 2* and upgradeable to 3*. Has the power of increasing all physical attacks and 3 slots, so she's really good when upgraded. As for blue, I'm currentñy using Xerneas. Is 3*, has good stats and 3 slots, but no special power.

I stopped unlocking characters at 58 on the roster. Is there a threshold for WoL I need to hit or something before that resumes?

Should just be able to keep going, WoL progress shouldn't affect your ability to unlock characters for the rest of the game.

if you're unlocking them through WoL then there's more after beating Galeem, that's not the end of it, you can unlock all characters in WoL
