So any tips for throwing? Seems to be very hit or miss for me on if it connects

Throwing characters or items?
Items becomes a learned reflex, honestly. I'm not sure if anyone has deep dived active hitboxes on items because their lack of use in competitive play.
Character specific items (Pac Man arcade items, Link bombs, etc) are generally specific to the character and all have unique properties. Even bombs between Link, Toon Link, and Young Link all have different properties/damage/knockback.
If you're grabbing a character, that also varies between character for grab box and delay on that grab. There was a universal cooldown on regrab in Smash 4 (~2 seconds), and it seems to be the same window in Ultimate. Long story short, there was tech in Smash 4 (and so far still in Ultimate) that allowed to to pivot grab slower but with a much larger reach or faster frame wise but with a shorter range. Characters with high speed (Ness, Sonic) get the most benefit, while other grabs (like Toon Link, Zero Suit Samus) with range generally fare better being used normally.
That all said, thank god Toon Link's grab delay is heavily reduced. Not sure if ZSS or Samus received the same change, but holy moly it is so much better for Toon Link to whiff on a grab and avoid punish now.
NEC is this weekend, so it’ll be a good insight on smash ult tournament play. Very likely will be vgbootcamp streaming or sp00ky
Should have clarified, it applies to Z-drop while being grabbed.
Z-Drop as an action is working perfectly fine. Z-Drop while being grabbed no longer works.
Has there been an arrival at tourney rules for Ultimate? I really hope 3 stock 1v1, 4 stock 2v2 becomes norm.
Throw range is something you should learn, not sure who you’re maining, but try to learn that by doing dash+grab, max range grab, and grab opponent landing in the lab, that should give you a better feel. If it makes it easier, on a pro controller, map one of your jump buttons to grab, or a shield button to grab as well to make your controls feel more comfortable.
What's the point of local wireless in smash? Wouldnt you just want to play on the same console? Or is this for those undocked situations?
Have a room up for friends only, join up. Add me if you haven’t yet.
Beat WoL, ending truly was badass.
My completion says 99.67% though, wtf did I miss >_<

Ooh, thanks. I'll try that

Tried online and kind of mixed on feelings. SOme matches are fine others are choppy AF due to the lag.
I'm at 611 spaces out of 615, the 2 spaces mentioned in the last few posts bring me to 613. All the dungeons have stars next to them. Dont even know where to look.
