Persona 5 is the only Persona game i've ever played, I am by no means a fanboy of the series. But you sir are the black sheep here, and I dare say an insane person. I think an Atlas rep alone was so far out of left field and Atlas has a lot of fans because they make great games including the Persona series.

Anyway, as far as the "Leaks" go, I feel most leakers just throw out a few good guesses with one "Wtf no way" mixed in to make it seem authentic because who the hell would make that up, and this leak matches that criteria sooo... I'm guessing fake.

That said if I indulge in speculation, i could see all of these in some way. Minecraft rather you hate it or like it was a cultural phenomenon with many different generations of players getting into it, as well as selling huge numbers on every platform from mobile to console to PC, spawning several off-shots and clones. Its akin to what Battle Royale is doing now though I'd argue Minecraft was far bigger than that. Bringing in a character from that doesn't seem far fetched and the Minecraft items could easily fit into a smash kit similar to Villager, but maybe too similar honestly.

Doomguy is from one of the most iconic and well known series of old, I could also see this as a retro throwback and since he recently got a new title and has a fancy 3D model it just makes it all the easier. Though I hardly doubt Nintendo would put mr RIP AND TEAR THROUGH THE DEMONS OF HELL himself into their relatively kid friendly franchise.

The others are more reasonable.

He's popular/hyped because he's from a franchise that many people love from a company that produces quality games many people enjoy. Him being a third party character also adds to the hype because before then they thought these kinds of things were more improbable or impossible. People are excited for him because they like him and the series he comes from, as well as being a part of a game that sold exceptionally well worldwile. To punt it plainly he's from a great series with a large following that produces quality enjoyable games for their genre and nobody expected him to be an option so ... Hype. Especially here on these boards where you have a lot of fans of Atlas games.

And for obscure? No, not mainstream sure but not so deep down that its obscure. its not Call of Duty or Fifa or Madden bro but it's sold (by what i could find) around 2.2mil units. its sales are up there with many Nintendo games and other console games that aren't yearly release juggernauts.

You don't have to be hype but its not rocket science as to why people would be hyped.
