Early thoughts on Hero online:

Sloooooow.
Menu magic is cumbersome and takes eyes off screen for way too long.
Random crits do get a few kills that normally shouldnt. More aggravating like G&W than broken.
Lightning Slash is main kill move.

He is good, but not better than the current top tier. Solid mid with some upward movement potential. The magic menu kills his competitive edge.

Never have i felt the game unfun until i had to start dealing with the bullshit that’s Hero.

I think is starting to hold true as the best description of playing against Hero:

He isn't broken. He is just a true anti-competitive character.

I would not be against a temp ban on him in tournament play to see if he has some balances done in the first post update patch or make him legal for only doubles atm. It will get better as people learn his ins and outs, and he doesn't have great frame data at all for many of his moves. Community needs to be patient, but there are some steps that should be taken to alleviate the Hero's impact in the meta.

Most people are saying he's fine casually but a nightmare competitively and that's very true.

You don't need to be very good to grab someone, throw them off stage and hope you get a Magic Burst as they try to recover (dead) or you don't get slept and crit or randomly deleted by whack/thwack.

And while his frame data is not very good he does have some pretty brain dead moves. Definitely need some time with the character, but I think he's going to get nerfed soon.

I still think straight bans are knee jerk before the meta around Hero develops, but I understand where their thought process is.

It is a fine line letting Hero be available for tournaments and having those players develop countermeasures, or tapping a watch and wait for a nerf just for the meta to begin developing 2-3 months down the road.

If a character can just win with down+B with no cooldown, then the skill is thrown out the window. I know it’s a low chance, but if the character can instant kill with luck or easily edge guard you because of luck in the menu, then yea, it’s a justifiable ban. They need to do either of these three things to make hero viable imo:

1) Raise the MP cost of most spells

2) Give his Down+B a cooldown

3) Remove Hocus Pocus, Thwack, Wack, and Magic Burst

Also, it makes no sense that his side+B charges WAY faster and is WAY safer than D3’s turbo hammer, has armor in the air too.

Terry would honestly work really well as a Smash character.

Power Wave, Crack Shoot, Burn Knuckle, Rising Tackle all play out nicely as Neutral, Side, Down, and Up specials, with Buster Wolf as a final smash.

I'd be kinda bummed if it was Terry tbh. SNK keeps whoring their characters out to other games but Athena has never been one of them despite being one of their oldest flagship characters. Also Terry was already in FEXL.
