I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

I should expand on this with a few numbers. Sony didn't get a cent of the $6 billion in revenue for Civil War/Infinity War/Endgame. While an approx. $1.7b on 95% take for Homecoming/FFH is no small number as well, Sony is in the right to not let Disney/Marvel get such a heavy cut from any Spider-man solo films if we assume the rights can continue to be used for future ensemble films/shows.

Seems like Sony could counter with "Ok, you want 50% of the solo films. That's fine. But since you all are building Spider-Man to be the next Tony Stark, and have him as a central role, we want 25% of future ensemble films.

Oscorp. Acknowledge that the world knows who he is, an have him opt to go into "a new direction" from his previous path, without mentioning Start or Shield, and have him approached by Norman Osborn.

It is, but I feel MM Spidey is better off being animated right now to avoid the branding confusion.

I know my nephew loved Endgame and Into the Spiderverse, but would be hella confused in going to see a live action Spidey and wonder why it wasn't the MCU Spiderman.

Theres honestly no way there will not be a deal struck. Sony has to know their track record, even with being given a roadmap now, is terrible for future films on their own. Disney knows that they'll have to maybe give up a little pie slice for using Spidey in future MCU titles and maybe get a little more from Spidey only titles instead of 50/50.

I'd rather see a live-acton Miles saved for when Tom gets older (so in like 10 years or so).

Here is the video all news sources are going with. an update in tag that Disney lowered the offer from 30% to 25%. Sony still refused but that was yesterday. we’ll see what happens with D23 today.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I didn't post this earlier, but I feel like the leak was done on purpose, either from Disney or Sony. One side figured they'd get the fans in an uproar to push the other side to seal a deal.

I mean, the contract ending was still way out, so having this announced now seemed early.

The other side I hadn't considered is that both sides reached a deal already or are gauging just how popular this iteration of Spidey is.

Wouldnt the 1.2 billion dollars they just made last month be a better indicator than angry people on twitter?

I wouldn't be surprised if there is an aspect of the dispute that isn't being reported, such as Sony wanting a crossover with the Venomverse.

Friend brought up this question. Do people really want Disney being the only company that does Marvel movies?

I said yes. Lol. Based off of Fox and Sony’s history.

While I do agree with that sentiment, competition brings innovation. Disney may get stale after a while or even very soon and nothing will get the collective creative juices flowing than competition. My comparison in this regard is AMD CPUs vs. Intel CPUs and soon to be Intel GPUs vs. AMD/Nvidia GPUs.

While I agree competition is good, having all of one brand under one hood allows the heroes to exist in the same universe. Seems most agree Peter disappearing to never be heard from again would be weird. It would also be nice to see Deadpool interact with current avengers or future heroes. Sharing license is a fine way to do it without Disney 100% owning everything.

That said agreed competition is good, too bad DC is such a dumpster fire. Anyone else that has tried to do shared universe is medicore at best. We just need other big comic properties to make non terrible movies. Give us a good Savage Dragon or Witchblade movie. I know they're working on a new Spawn movie but I have little faith in Todd McFarlane.
