Give the man the Cy Young. W/L record is dishonest as hell for pitchers and doesn't paint the entire story. He's been pitching a ridiculous ERA damn near the whole season but his anemic offense never shows up.

Yup. Dude was fat and away the best pitcher in the national league. Saw a stat that showed Scherzer would have to pitch another 107 scoreless innings to lower his ERA to DeGrom’s

Wow. I knew that he would have crazy wins if it wasn't the Mets but I didn't know it would be that crazy.

Saw a stat about 300+ strikeout guys not always winning cy young and it gave me some relief. Scherzer had a great year but degrom has had a historic year. He's achieved several things that have never been done dating all the way back to last season.

Forget the cy give him MVP.

Yesterday Yelich had 5 plate appearances...and walked all 5 times.

Today they pitched to him so he hit a 2-run homer...and he's walked in the two appearances since. 8 straight on-base appearances and counting. It's like Barry Bonds shit.

Actually 9 straight, he homered in his last at-bat on Tuesday, so he's gone HR BB BB BB BB BB HR BB BB

BRAUN just got his 20th homer, to put the Brewers up 6-5 in the 8th.

    Ho-hum you say?

    Look how it happened.

Apparently that's what all of his homers have been like. Gifts from bad outfielders

The Brewers don't make the postseason without Yelich's post-All Star hot streak. deGrom has been doing some crazy shit, but he just dragged the Mets kicking and screaming to be slightly not as bad.

Any doubts of Yelich not being NL MVP was washed away with these last couple games. Shit he should get MVP just for hitting for the cycle twice PLUS getting walked 5 times in a single game in roughly one months time just because of how much it tickles stat nerds funny bones.

A lot of voters prefer to vote the actual most valuable player, regardless of how good their teammates are

Heh, Nolan Ryan, the all time strikeout leader, has never won a Cy Young award, and he played 27 years. Recorded 6 300+ strikeout seasons(one 383, 301 at age 42). So not really sure what the criteria is based upon, but I'd think if it were based solely on strike out totals(but have a terribad W-L-ERA stat), lots of more deserving guys would lose out.

They really don't, as evidenced by the multiple times Trout finished 2nd for the MVP.

They'll sometimes anoint a great position player on a non-playoff team, or a great pitcher for a playoff team, but I really don't see them picking a great pitcher from a non-playoff team, especially with the recency bias from Yelich's huge second half/last month/last week.

"a lot" doesn't necessarily mean the majority. Trout is an example since those teams didn't make the playoffs but he still came in second.

I agree that deGrom is at further disadvantage because he is a pitcher - some voters will toss him a cy young vote but leave him off the MVP ballot

Yelich with another pair of homers and 3 RBIs in a 6-5 win. Brewers and Cubs are now tied for the NL Central (and NL overall) lead with 1 game remaining.

Yelich has clinched the batting average title, he's tied for the league lead in home runs now, and is only two back in RBIs for the NL triple crown.

    One game left.

Miguel Cabrera like 5 years ago or something

JD Martinez had a good shot at it in the AL this year
