Canada was part of Britain at the time, but even that's a stretch.
Canada was part of Britain at the time, but even that's a stretch.
The more interesting part of that story to me has always been how they were planning on continuing their march and torching the entire DC Metro area when God himself reached down and blew their army apart. I feel like that doesn't get enough play in modern American storytelling.
To clarify I know the brits marched from where Canada is now and I know that Canada used to be a colony of Britain but it wasn't Canada then it was a British Colony and it was the British army so it is a huge stretch to say that Canada burned down the white house. Even if Canada was a separate entity that was allowing the British army to be there and the army marched from Canada ultimately it was the British army.
No one cares about the truth when the lie is more entertaining.

Zoobs is correct the 'Canadians burned down The White House' meme is a bit of post-facto self-aggrandizement from our inferiority complected neighbors to the north. it was a British army, consisting of regular British (id est not colonial) units, under British command, freshly dispatched from Spain following Wellington's successful Peninsular Campaign against Napoleonic France. some Canadians were present in the force most likely, but the extent of their involvement would have been minimal in the extreme as the army only stepped foot in Nova Scotia to begin the offensive south, after first disembarking in Bermuda.
in other words it's about as accurate to say the Bermudians burned down the White House as it is to say the Canadians did.
If the US army marched into Canada and burned down their capitol then later Guam became its own country Canada couldn't turn around and say that Guam burned down their capitol. Well they could but it wouldn't make any sense and neither does this.
Edit: I know Guam is an island and the army couldn't march from Guam to Canada but lets pretend that the US army launched from Guam via boat and then invaded another country nearby.

Giuliani Comments on the Daniels Casehttp://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefi...stormy-danielsGiuliani reportedly said Wednesday that he doesn't believe Daniels's story before the moderator interjected that "on this stage, we respect women."
"I respect women — beautiful women and women with value — but a woman who sells her body for sexual exploitation I don't respect," Giuliani said. "Tell me what damage she suffered. Someone who sells his or her body for money has no good name."
Sincerely, what a piece of shit human being.
