LAWL, those get shit mileage and still require Premium gas. Still only getting 3-400 miles out of it, which is what I get in my non hybrid Acura TLX. Also can't use Tesla's unless you want to go home every time you need a charge. Tesla is banning any Tesla used for Uber from their super chargers. New York is also an anomaly in driver pay as their politicians haven't been bought off by Uber/Lyft and they make decent money. Uber X rates average about 65-70 cents a mile across the nation. San Francisco is the only other city I know of that comes close to a dollar a mile, but once you leave that for the east bay, it drops down to 68 cents a mile. So yes, way under valued, and if gas spikes, even with hybrids, you are going to see a lot of part time drivers quit, and possibly full time ones as well in some markets due to that unless rates go up, which they should.

Enjoy your 100 dollar taxi rides to the airport then. This will ABSOLUTELY KILL Uber and Lyft. Even with Hybrids, and say you get 30-40 miles to the gallon. At 10 bucks a gallon, you are spending close to 150 bucks just to gas up, and if you're lucky, you'll get maybe 300 dollars in fares. And that's if you get lucky and people toss in some extra tips. You only get to deduct .54 a mile on your taxes, and that's on the full amount you make. And then you still have to set aside money for tires, oil changes, brakes. Even if you do all that shit on your own, you are going to maybe have 50-75 bucks left over from that 300 dollars (on the high end) of fares for 12 hours of work for your average driver.
