He got EMP'd by Isshin and Ryuken with an item they acquired via unknown reasons after appearing and doing basically nothing otherwise (despite massive buildup)

I read it almost exclusively because it was the best-drawn thing Jump has ever serialized. I never really gave a fuck what was happening. The cool moments were just a bonus.

I ain't gonna fart in anyone's cheerios around here but christ, Kubo's writing just annoys me. Nothing ever gets fully resolved, people get hyped to hell as being something only to get absolutely raw-dogged and bodied by some random schmuck just to show how powerful their big bad boss is... its just all so anticlimactic.

Dude needs a straight-man editor to just rein in his stupid hype and tired ideas. I'd kill for a Bleach chapter where absolutely no fucking high-stakes end-boss threat existed. Just all of the characters of the series just living their life and existing. They're all interesting enough without needing some omniscient master-planner and his stupid attempts at 5-D chessmaster plots to usurp this and overthrow that to restore this and that.

Such nonsense.

The artwork is so great. Just take the fucking pen out of his hands when it comes to thinking up actual plot.

Yeah, powerups are part and parcel for the genre, but I was always annoyed that Bleach's powerups felt way too coincidental. There were way too many occurrences of Bankais that were revealed as the perfect solution for specific opponents.

I'm still turbo triggered we had all the build up for Hisagi's bankai and then he both used it AND got jobbed off-screen. Best vice-captain (Rangiku excluded for obvious reasons) don't @ me.

I think a major part of the balance issue is that the "power levels" have such absurd degrees of difference (like Aizen stopping Ichigo with a finger) that the only 'reasonable' way any of the characters we meet early on and kept coming around can keep up is having the perfect counter. When you consider the scope of the background, where these characters are living for hundreds/thousands of years, and have such huge power differences despite it, there really is no way for most characters to simply 'train' and catch up, cause they're trying to catch up to a thousand years of training and only Naruto (or any shonen protag, but Naruto has an in-canon reason lul) can do that. Renji should have been removed from any real part in fights after the SS arc. They should have just had Ichigo going up the ranks and having the new tier of allies being shown. Maybe keep some of the older guys in for comedy or tips, but Kubo made a power system that effectively removed them from being viable.

The story was a hot mess, especially the last arc, but Bleach always had amazing art and characters. Anything more than that is a bonus.

Actually Urahara was confirmed alive in the epilogue chapter.

All of these characters appearing after their last appearance was them on the verge of death with nothing in between is one of the things they really need to fix in the anime.

December news was originally to be announced at a standalone Bleach showcase for the 20th anniv this week, but now it will be one of the main stage events at Jump Festa 2022, streaming live this December 18 at 6PM JST (1AM PST / 4AM EST).

We've been told to expect a proper Season 17 trailer, and therefore we'll likely learn the key animators, studio, and release date for the first cour of episodes.

Likely no news on BTW or Howl From the Jaws of Hell arc's continuation. The digital release of the "one-shot" did get a neat new cover illustration last month, though.
