Read an interview with the Russo Bros and they said the decision to dust Black Panther in Infinity War was made back in 2015 when Civil War was still in production. Disney/Marvel was behind their story decisions 100%. When Black Panther became the huge hit in the first week, one unnamed Disney executive then begged them to reconsider Black Panther's fate. The Russo Bros explained that at that point not only was it logistically impossible to make that big of a change on such short notice, they were adamant about not basing narrative decisions on box office results.

I read this long article, from a black media website, about how terrible it was for Marvel to kill off a character of such cultural significance so soon. The author's aunt apparently left the theater sick to her stomach after becoming such a huge fan of T'challa, and also the article mentioned how it could have that effect on black audiences.

Long story short, guy who didn't do any research on the source material turned T'challa's death in to a racial issue.

So after going back and looking at a few set photos and realizing that Ant Man and the Wasp takes place before Infinity War I am starting to get a clear picture of what may happen in the next Ant Man movie and Avengers 4:

From previews of Ant Man we know that the driving plot will be the Microverse/Quantum Realm and that the OG Wasp played by Michelle Pfeiffer will be rescued. It was slipped in an old interview that she will be present in the large battle in Avengers 4 as well. They will deal with the threat in the movie and then the end will cross over into the ending of Infinity War where Hope Pym will get snapped. Scott or Hank will approach Tony and they will begin working on a way to use the Quantum Ream for time travel.

Avengers 4 will probably take place 5 years after the events of Infinity War where some of the avengers travel back in time to the battle of New York to warn themselves or simply to infiltrate SHIELD in order to kidnap Loki for information on Thanos to collect, destroy, hide, or use the stones so that when they go back to their timeline all snapped individuals are still present.
