The difference between Guentzel's hit on Carlson and Wilson's hit on ZAR, first...some physical stats
Guentzel: 5'11 180
Carlson: 6'3 218
Wilson: 6'4 218
ZAR: 6'0 204
Both hits were a predatory hit to the head. The 6'4 player hitting the 6'0 player who is 14 pounds lighter in the head caused a broken jaw and a concussion. The 5'11 player hitting the 6'3 player who is 38 pounds heavier in the head did not cause a concussion nor a broken jaw, but Carlson had problems getting off the ice and he didnt finish the game because he was being evaluated (which isnt telling much because there was less than a minute to go).
BUT, and Bettman loves Crosby, the face of the league, and suspending the current point leader in the playoffs, who happens to play for Crosby's team, would be bad for business. Hopefully the Caps end this Monday...or they dont and they have to see Tom Wilson again.
