God damn it
God damn it
Sure was exciting.
Holy shit that ending.
Tom prolly suspended, we'll see if cross checking is a penalty next game
I take my prediction back. Vegas in 7. I want maximum heartbreak.
btw, Perron left the bench to cross check Ovi after the Wilson hit. It's either a missed "Too many men" as well as his Cross Check or, it's a player leaving the bench to hit someone, which is usually enforced in the "leaves bench to start an altercation" and an automatic 10 game suspension. I'm sure the NHL will ignore it though.
I'd be ok if the league was like "look, were not going to suspend him for the duration of the cup finals for a foolish lapse in judgment, but we still have to send a message that what he did is unacceptable, so we will suspend him for one SCF game, and he will serve the remaining 9 next season".
I doubt they will even comment on it tbh.
That was some start to the Finals. This is going to be a titanic battle.
Hell of a game; got dragged to a Warriors watch party in SF, but caught snippets of action on a second TV in the 2nd and 3rd
I dont have a problem with the refs putting the whistles away and "letting them play", my problem is that they decided to "let them play" after calling a weak penalty on Bura 5 minutes into the game.
Good Guy Tom Wilson should definitely sit a game for that hit. The puck was long gone and it was a complete blindside. At some point this shit stops being a series of unfortunate accidents and just becomes what it actually is; a dirty player doing dirty shit.
Edit: aaaaaaannnnnd no hearing. Because of course not.
I feel like I have barely mentioned the refs this year, other then in reference to the Stamkos trip that resulted in a goal and last night's shit fest of like 5 missed cross checks, and other clear high sticks/slashes, and I didn't even bring up any of them other then the cross check that created a game tying goal.
One thing I would love to see is the fact sports betting is now becoming legal in the US is forcing the NHL to stop with these bullshit ref behaviour changes in the playoffs. Call the game consistently, thats all I ask. It gives teams that win off special teams during the regular season a disadvantage the further into the playoffs they go since the part of their game they excel at is no longer a factor in games.
VGK owner was pissed off there were so many Caps fans at Game 1 and they were all sitting together. He has requested StubHub to break up groups of tickets and try to make sure Caps' fans can't sit together for future games.
“Foley also said he has advised staff that he does not want so many fans in opposition jerseys filling seats at T-Mobile Arena like they did during this past regular season and was concerned that were blocks of red-clad Washington Capitals fans in the venue for Game 1 Monday.”
“I don’t like it,” Foley said.
Foley wants blocks of tickets sold on StubHub, the team’s secondary ticket partner, to be split up.
“I can move around the ticket locations,” Foley said. “I don’t want to see them together.”
He estimated about 2,000 fans in T-Mobile Arena Monday were Capitals fans, perhaps 12 percent or so.
