It's a bit different. In principle, you seem to have a point, but it's not quite the same thing as "n****" versus "cracker" so much as it is a slur versus "caucasian".
Cis is not a pronoun. It's a definition borne from the natural conclusion of the opposite of "trans".
Elon is essentially saying "look if we can't call black people watermelon-eating monkeys then you can't say the word 'white'." It's a fucking idiotic and reductive stance that shows how stupid he actually is.
I want to separate two things here. Elon labeling them as slurs is fucking dumb and I think we all agree on that point, and the dude whining is another thing, I know nothing about him and he could be a thundering asshole, and if he regularly mis-genders or labels folks then fuck him, but its beside the other point.
I agree with Nynja here to some degree. I am against them, anyone, using labels like cis as an insult regardless of the scenario and expressly against someone's wishes not to be labeled as such regardless of how silly I think it is, its the intent I don't like. We're all about correct labels here and for good reason, if someone asks not to be identified as Cis, regardless of their reasons, then don't call them as such and certainly don't attack/mock them as such and weaponize the damn word for no reason. I really didn't think that would be the hot take here but here we are.
Personally, IDGAF about the word, as far as I know its just the term used to describe someone who identifies as their assigned-at-birth gender and I don't see it as a problem at all, but if someone asks you not to refer to them as "Cisgender" you can call them Male or Female or just by their name or don't refer to them at all if you can't without being an ass.
There is nothing "Slur" or wrong about the word "Male" or "Female", but if you use it to purposefully misidentify someone who asks not to be called that, you're being an asshole. That applies to this situation, don't be an asshole, is simple.
I said Elon's post is another matter all together.
Karb gets what I'm saying, and it was rather simple: the group of people crying "respect what I want to be called or your a bigot" are now disrespecting what someone prefers to be called and mocking them over it too ("cissy" is clearly a play on words for "sissy"...which is ironic considering what sissy means).
But what you're missing in this comparison is this:
Trans people are asking you to refer to them with a word that accurately describes how they feel.
Anti-trans people are asking you not to use a word that does accurately describe how they feel, they just don't fucking know better because they're being stupid.
You're basically defending weaponized stupidity here.
So harassment is ok if it's because the target is a dumbass?
If that's the case they need to reactivate Moriah Mills account
So now its "were not gonna use labels you want to be called, were gonna use the labels you actually are"?
You do see where this is going, right?
You being an idiot like you have been for 20 years, avoiding anything logical and being mad because you're an angry person? Yeah, guess I can't say I'm surprised.
Again, the only reason people dislike "cis" is because THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. Not that the label is "incorrect", it is correct, but because they're FUCKING IGNORANT. I think you're smart enough to know that difference, but I'm sure you're emotional enough to continue to ignore it.
Yup, he has no idea where this is going.
It is amazing how ideology changes ones views. I have for years seen Nynja go off on people for being stupid, and here he is, defending people being stupid, because now the stupid people align with his political ideology.
Do you even know what my political ideology is? Or do you just assume I'm a Nazi Trump supporter? "He said Biden is a bad choice, he also said Hillary is a bad choice, so he's a Nazi Trumper".
where do you think the desire to not be called cis comes from? i'm generally for not calling anyone something they don't want to be called, no skin off my back etc, but as far as i can see the only people that complain about being called cis (which as you say is simply not trans) are those with prejudice against the trans community who don't like them / believe they really exist and so don't want to legitimize them by saying the opposite exists.
here's the original tweet that the guy was crying about btw, clearly stating trans people don't exist and then mocking them and the language they use
https://twitter.com/JamesEsses/statu...52747011260417
Youd have to be a fool to take that bait lol
Real talk, how does doubling down on that and calling him a “cissy” among the other things that were said over that do anything to help the trans community?
“They hate us, they dont think we exist, they think we dont deserve any rights…so lets pile up on him and attack him, thatll help”
The employed logic of “were calling you what you are” is pretty fucking stupid, cause to those people, a m2f trans is a man, “im calling you what you are”. Its such a stupid play. Since im “a fucking stupid angry Canadian”, can someone explain what the end goal of such a move is?
I don't care what their reason is. It could be they simply hate the way the words sounds spoken out loud, if they don't want to be called Cis, don't call them Cis. I won't go out of my way to justify mislabeling someone who asked me not too, and that logic goes both ways, even if I think the other person is being insincere.
If someone said to please call them Male and not female because they feel male, are you going to sit there and say "Well, where does this come from? Honestly the only people who say stuff like this -" or will you accept its how they want to be labeled and go by that? Would you just purposefully say "Nah fuck you FEMALE FEMALE FEMALE FEMALE"?
If someone wants me to call them a Fucktapuss I'm going to internally think weird as fuck but ok you do you.
As I said in the original post if they're a thundering fuckwit who regularly mislabels people then fuck him and the horse he rode in on, but thats a separate argument to "Don't weaponize labels just because its toward someone you don't like". I feel its important here to separate whos its happening to from what is happening to them, and understand its wrong.
