Uncle went through rounds of chemo for leukemia and came out the other end free, just went in for a yearly checkup at Boston Health and he's still good so there's at least some hope. Uncle was fucking positive as fuck through the entire thing, no idea how he did it.

And side note, holy shit I'm glad I don't live where you guys do. I have like a 2k~ or so square foot house built within the last 5 years in a new subdivision, 3 bed 2 bath, full walk-in closets for both bedrooms plus a garage and the rent is just $1680/month

Come live in San Diego CA, where you pay $4500 for a 3 bed 2 bath with no garage and the house itself is old as fuck and falling apart. One top of that you can pay CA fees of $20 to license you're fucking dog every year (just found this out yesterday lol) and shit tons in taxes and fees to register your car every year! :D

I don't think I'd label it as "Doing you a solid", but I can see what he was trying to say. Like "Catching it early and giving you a fighting chance" is better than "Hey we found the cancer but its so far gone you'll be dead in a month nothing we can do", and if someone had just recently experienced situation 2, he might see situation 1 as a much more favorable outcome. Ideally no cancer, mind you, but I get it.

That said, hopefully your wife pulls through it, this is going to be a rough time for you.

Read something a few weeks ago where they said median rent in SD finally surpassed San Francisco. Remember a few years back friend was venting about the prices there and I was like 'still cheaper than the Bay Area!'

That absolutely fucking sucks dude. Moms friend had Breast cancer, caught earlier than you, but still lost both breasts in the process and while shes doing well, ya still gotta get check ups even if you win this fight.
